Got a camera for Christmas & I'm happy!

My husband bought me a really nice digital camera for Christmas and I know that all of you will appreciate what I'm about to tell you! We haven't had a camera in the house for years--and I mean years.  I so hated what I looked like, that I sacrificed having important pictures of my boys (Christmas', graduations, award nights etc) rather than take the chance of having my own photo taken!  It was a lose/lose situation, because now I regret not having those pictures. However, I must look on the positive side of things and remember that today is a new day and I will now have photos of all the good stuff from here on out--including my youngest son graduating from high school this coming June and my oldest graduating from university 2 years from now! We might even have a family picture or two taken! Remember:  if you wake up on this side of the ground--it's a good day! Merry Christmas!

I understand what you are saying, Mary Lou, as I hated having any picture taken of me.  Seeing a picture of myself when I was a pre-op was the only time I really saw myself as huge as I was.  Now I don't mind having my picture taken.  The only time I don't like it is if the angle shows off the impressive turkey wattle of a neck that I now possess!!!  Most of the time I like seeing the new me, and that includes having all the new pictures with my family, too. I think it's moments like these, that seem small, insignificant and silly perhaps to some, but to those of us who have walked this journey realise how HUGE this is for you.  It is for these 'small' moments that WLS is SO impacting in our lives - we regain so much more than weight loss. Thanks for sharing and reminding me that this journey is so much more than numbers on a scale and happy photo taking.

Mary Lou, If you don't mind me asking, what kind of camera did you get?  My hubby got me one with all the bells and whistles several years ago and it is just too much for me.  I've asked for a smaller, easier to use digital camera for the past 2 years and still didn't get one for Christmas so I'm going shopping for one myself.  I scrapbook so I love having tons of pictures but have to depend on my family to take them b/c I don't like using my hubby's camera or the one he bought for me.   Take lots of pics to record your wls progress & enjoy the large & small events in your family life! Hi Vicki! My hubby bought me a Kodak Easy Share M853.  It seems pretty easy to work.  Turn it on, point & centre your subject and click.  There are other options and stuff on it that I haven't really checked out, but I'll leave that to my 17 year old son to figure out for me.  Then, if I want to know how to do something, I won't have to figure it out (and frurstrate myself) I'll just ask him.  He's a real whiz at this stuff--he's autistic (high-functioning) and electronic stuff is right up his alley!
