Hi, I was told that one, drinking during your meals may cause you not to chew it as well as you should therefore "washing" the food down, and two, it makes the food swell while still in your pouch, causing you to bloat and stretch your pouch.  If anyone was told differently, let me know.

Our pouches do not have a pyloric value at the exit anymore.  So, if you drink soon after eating it'll push the chewed up food out of the pouch leaving you hungrier much earlier. Kathy

As Kathy said, you want food to stay in your pouch as long as possible, making you feel full, and not wanting to eat too often.  Liquids will wash that food out of your pouch, as there is no valve holding it in.  That is also why you want to eat dense protein foods, such as chicken or turkey, instead of "slider" types of food.  Dense protein  will stay in your pouch longer.  Luckily for me, I am physically uncomfortable if I drink anything for quite awhile after I eat, so I am not tempted to eat and drink. I was told that the liquids would fill you up so you won't eat the protein you need.
