Ulcers
I have never had trouble with an ulcer but I woke up this morning feeling fine one minute and the next my stomach was burning and I have had several bouts of diarrhea and vomiting but the worst has been this burning stomach and so I'm so worried about it being an ulcer. I have called my surgeon and my medical doc and they both say wait at least a day to see what happens. I'm 2 years post op.
Just was curious if anyone has been diagnosed with an ulcer and what were the warning signs or how did it come about? What are the symptoms?
I haven't been on the site for a long time, so I just saw your post today. I hope your stomach quieted down with no further symptoms.
I am 3 years out, and went to the emergency room on December with horrible shoulder pain (both shoulders) and the feeling of someone driving a stake from my shoulder down through the left side of my torso. I had a perforated ulcer, and had emergency surgery.
I have had acid reflux for years, which continued somewhat even after my surgery.
I had the shoulder pain for several weeks before the perforation, but never associated the two. My Dr. says that the ulcer sometimes bleeds, which irritates the diaphragm and causes the pain to radiate to the shoulders.
I am scheduled to have tests in 2 weeks to see if we can find out what caused the ulcer. It could be a fistula, which from what I understand is the old stomach reconnecting to the pouch (possible staple line failure?), or just my body creating too much acid. Leading cause is stress.
I hope you are well, but I wanted to let you know what MY symptoms were.
