Were you bypassed Proximal or Distal - RNY

I decided to post this here since this is the GRAD board, its also on the main board too.

I had my last consoltation with my surgeon today and asked how much would be bypassed.  She said 150 cm.

I was shocked and expecting to hear 75 because I have "low" BMI and am a lightweight.

If you dont mind me asking those of you that have had or already know what you are having bypassed :

How much did they bypass for you

and

What was your weight at surgery

Thanks for your responses

I was bypassed 150cm and was 280 on surgery day.  Doc said it was best for my diabetes not just for weight loss.

There aren't too many distals around here that I know of~Michelle/Vitalady is though. I am proximal. not sure exactly how much was bypassed, but think he told me (3yrs ago, LOL) that it was around 150. I started at 328lbs. Hope this helps!

The bypassed intestines have less do with losing weight and more to do with maintaining weight.   A person that is more distally biypassed will be able to maintain their weight loss easier then someone who has had a proximal procedure.  We have many light weights on the DS forum, most of whom lost to their "perfect" weight, and that is with an very short common channel.
