Cane Juice
I have one more question........
I don't eat sugar products. I've seen the following on some natural products and they sound like another name for sugar, what do you think?
- Evaporated cane juice
- Evaporated cane juice syrup
Melissa suggested Kashi Go Lean cereal (THANK YOU!!) which used to be one of my favorites, however it has the syrup. It seems that sugar is cane juice that has had all the water evaporated out of it. What do you think? Of course, I've assumed that cane means sugar cane.
By the way I do eat some sweet items. For example I eat preserves that are sweetened with grape juice concentrate. I eat yogurt as well. So far I've found that it's the sugar I can't eat, sweet isn't specifically a problem.
Thank you!
Hi there - you are correct, it is a form of sugar, but a "pure" form ---
Evaporated cane juice is a healthy alternative to refined sugar. While both sweetners are made from sugar cane, evaporated cane juice does not undergo the same degree of processing that refined sugar does. Therefore, unlike refined sugar, it retains more of the nutrients found in sugar cane. Evaporated cane juice is a healthy alternative to refined sugar. I view it as a healthier form, just like high fructose corn syrup is "evil" and pure sugar would be the healthier sweetner -- cane juice is one up from pure sugar.
Hope this helps a little.
