Well I hate long weekends.  I have'nt worked out since Friday, but I have a lunch workout date with my workout buddy.  I fell off a bit this weekend and ate 3 pieces of cake over 2 days, but I am back on track today.  I didn't feel like posting Saterday and Sunday so if anyone is interested you can check out my public profile.  Gonna go back to day 3 of the 5dpt today,  already had a Protien drink and gonna work out in 2 hours.  I missed checking in,  It really kept me on track,  Mark that as lesson learned.  Here ya go:

After I got all worn out on Sunday, Monday was my day to rest. I rested so much I didn't need to eat..Or you would think.  Actually skipped the malto meal today and headed straight for the eggs breakfast. I had to slow WAY down cuz the ol pouch wasn't warmed up to it yet. So it took longer for the eggs to get through so I know that if I do start to gain too much weight I can stop it pretty quick by not spoiling my pouch with the warm up early in the morning. Breakfast: 3 egg omelet with spinach and swiss cheese, no pototoes at all and coffee Snack: 20 gr Protein bar Lunch: 1 medium chicken thigh and a small salad snack: Coffee with soy milk and some other water.  Dinner: Buffalo chili, 2 cups. Good stuff, took me a long time to eat it.  Dessert: 3 pc of SF chocolate candy.  Totals:  Calories: 1456 Fat: 66 Carbs: 97 (pert near no carbs at all in that chili) Protein: 127 Carla, is it true that we can only absorb 30 grams of protein at one sitting? If that's the case, that chili isn't doing me much good cuz 1 cup is 25 grams, two cups is 51 grams...21 grams wasted... thanks! Dawn

I have the same question too.  I use 2 scoops of my protien drink and it has 56 grams.  Am I wasting one scoop each time?  Let me know what you find out. Dana

I am no doctor but I understand that to be true... you will notice I always stay below that 30/35 number.  The body is not capable of absorbing that much expecially ours because of the wls.  My protein drink is also a 50 protein drink but I split it up and will only do one scoop.  I hate wasting money and truth it makes since to me what they say.. there is a lot of research on the internet if you are interested stating the 30/35 gram fact on protein. Oh.. I also hear it needs to have time to do its thing as well so you would need to eat one cup  and than another one an hour or so later. Check it out. Carla

I'll have to keep that in mind and split up the cups of buffalo chili...I already get looks from the boss cuz I'm eating all day long. Sheesh.

From what I understand for us, meaning wls patients, we have a smaller stomach and intestine.  this is where we break protein down and absorb it.  Because our food moves through faster and we dont absorb as well we cant absorb more than that 30 to 35 gram amount.  My doc also told me to keep it to that as well.   Thats why I drink a protein drink at 500am.. eat my oatmeal at 700am.. my protein bar at 900am lunch at 1130am than my next snack at 230pm and my dinner at 530 and my ice cream at 700pm.  I am not obsessive at all about my eating habits..lol.. not at all.. hehehehe.. sometimes I worry about myself and these little behaviors of mine.. you can stop laughing now.. Not laughing at all here. That's me all over. I do the same. 5-6 am, 8 am, 10 am, 11:30 am, 1 pm, 3 pm and if I don't have something when I walk in the door at 5 pm, I'm nervous. Then I can eat dinner. And a snack before bedtime about 8 pm. If I stay up late (after 9) I'm having another snack because my grumbling pouch won't let me sleep. Alot of times that's where the one piece of sf candy comes in..Just enough to keep my pouch busy while I fall asleep. LOL>  I'm thinking maybe the protein shake next to my coffee when I get up in the morning might be in order. I don't do them often but I think I will have to. Of course, if I don't have the two cups of chili for lunch, I can do the raw veggies and dip or a salad..Which is even better. Hmm. Something to think about.

oh my.. you had a day.. how long does your infusion take.  and what is it for.  I get remecade and it takes 3 hours... every 6 weeks.. i hate it.   You joined me on having a busy day.. wow.. lots of fat is for sure.. you almost beat your protein in fat.  Probably not a good thing.  I usually get the grill chicken sandwich wraped in lettuce with no sauce.. great protein and low in carbs and fat.  My other half loves those Filet o Fish but I have never even tried one...  hope your day is better tomorrow Carla
