Morning ... feeling displaced

Big hugs! I am going through the same thing now with a support group I go to. I feel like people think I'm too strict with my diet, b/c I try to follow the pouch rules.  It's hard to be compliant when others are bringing you down. A gain of 1 lb can be an avalanche, and you have to be careful. You are welcome here!

Just wanted to say welcome.

I can't add anything to what so many others have already posted and said so well.

We are all a work in progress, learning what works for us and what does not.

Come by and visit here regularly. You will get lots of support and understanding.

Welcome to Grads - the best board on Obesityhelp.com. People here are so positive and not judgemental at all - all they want to do is help. So welcome aboard! Diona

Linda - I can understand how you feel - I am primarily a lurker, when I have asked for advise or asked questions on the local MN board - no one has answered. I don't dare mention that I have had regain - don't think they would understand. I do post occasionally here on the Grad board and have always gotten an answer or encouragement on whatever I post - many times I find that others post what questions I have and am amazed at how many of us are experiencing the same thing (so I won't post) I know I need to come out of my shell more, but it is hard without the support (I do go to my local support group) from others. Unfortunately, not too many go to my support group meetings  :( - I had surgery at Unity Hospital in Fridley. but live way south of there. I appreciate all of the information given on this board - I just need to participate more - I am still somewhat shy - even with this computer format- as well as in person - Take care.

Don't be shy!  That's what this place is for...Support...friendship, understanding crying, moaning aching, sharing, caring...Whatever!. What one person might not experience, someone else might...You would be surprised how just being one voice can reach so many that are like you and are afraid to speak up!   Welcome Hugs Anita

Linda,  You definately got my attention. I was in EXACTLY the same spot. I was/am 121 pounds. Actually up from 118 because that is just too skinny for my frame. I know I need to gain, I know I'm too thin but I'm scared to death to let that scale go up even a tenth of a pound. I'm working on it, baby steps. Mostly trying to MAINTAIN which is a completely foreign animal to me from all the years of my food addiction. Monday I worked in the yard and around the house and actually worked up a sweat doing all sorts of tree trimming and such...I stepped on the scale the next morning and I was crushed to find 2 extra pounds. I weighed 124.6 instead of my 121.8. It put me in a foul mood, I was cranky with everyone and even said some things at work that got me in trouble..Big trouble.  It's not the weight but the thought that I'll lose control and gain 20 or 100 pounds instead of just that one or two. We/I completely understand here. We don't laugh, we aren't jealous. We'll listen and be there for you. Relax, we've got your back around here.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

Linda, You will love the grads board!  I love the lack of contentiousness & unnecessary drama found on some other forums, and the support (and occasional butt-kickin') that's done here is always done with a tone of understanding, support, and sometimes humor!   On this board, you will find people who got to goal and have successfully maintained, those who never quite got to goal but are nicely maintaining anyway and are perfectly happy, those who never got to goal and are still slowly moving in that direction, and those who either got to goal OR didn't get there and are really struggling with re-gain.  We all understand "where we're coming from" and what we're facing as long-term post-ops.   I am struggling with re-gain, and I honestly get something from everyone who posts; I am encouraged both by those who are successful maintainers and by those who are struggling just like I am.  I especially love to hear from those *****gained and have re-lost! Great to have you here!!

Always,
Jo
