Strictly shakes & water?
I've thought about doing this, but my concern is always what happens when the 5 days is over? You may lose some weight doing the liquid proteins, but do you have a plan for what you'll do when you go back to real foods? Even with WLS, it's still about calories in, calories out, and exercise. If you're looking for long-term loss and maintenance of that loss, I'd suggest reevaluating what you're eating, how much your exercising, fluid intake, etc. I'd also suggest daily food journaling to help keep yourself accountable. At 2 years out, you can probably eat a lot more now (I'm 28 months post-op and know I can eat a lot more than I could a year ago). So you have to become more mindful of what you put in your mouth. Remember that even as little as an extra 100 calories per day adds up to 10 pounds per year! The good side of that equation of course is that by cutting out 100 calories per day, you can lost 10 pounds per year... Good luck on your continuing journey - Kellie
Thanks so much Kellie for your thoughtful reply. I am almost certain I do not overeat and up until a few months ago I still measured and wrote down everything I put into my mouth including water. I just thought by trying strictly fluids for a few days I could clear out and start over. I was eating pretzels as a snack sometimes and want to readjust so I do not "crave" carbs. Have a wonderful day and thank you once again, Pam
" I am almost 2 years out and have not lost any weight for many months. "
"...until a few months ago I still measured and wrote down everything I put into my mouth..."
Remember... "you can't manage what you can't measure"... yes?
Not sure how much more helpful a full on liquid protein plan would be... I think the 5 day pouch test is more realistic, as far as getting you back on track with protein priorities, and getting you ready to go back to regular eating sorta kinda gradually... that's just my un-edumacated opinion, though!
Good luck to you!
