Slider Foods

Hi everyone! I got sleeved in February 06 & have put on about 8 lbs.  I'm back on track this week & I've lost 3 lbs already...first day I did all liquids, the rest I've done the protein/veggie thing. Here's my question;  does anyone know which veggies are "less sliders" than  others?  I find that if I eat broccoli I'm satisfied for a long time!  But for lunch I had chicken breast with cabbage & was satisfied, but was a little hungry shorthly after.  I guess some veggies are more "dense" than others?  All information & suggestions welcomed & greatly appreciated!  God bless you all & happy & healthy losing! Hugs, Maggie

Maggie, I don't really know the answer to your question, as I've never thought of any veggies as being "slider" foods.  Probably the more fibrous ones (i.e., broccoli, caulif., carrots) are better than something like cabbage, lettuce, or green beans, but I'm not really sure!  I would think that if  you are getting mostly full on the protein and then eating a small amount of veggies, then you'd stay satisfied longer.  I am not very knowledgeable about the glycemic index--I know various diets, such as South Beach, rely upon this number that's assigned to every food--it refers to how long it takes the food to digest and/or how it affects blood-sugar levels (or something like that).  Knowing what the glycemic index is on various veggies might help answer your question.  Sorry this terribly helpful but just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents' worth!' Jo

Always,
Jo
