WLS newbie in a stall needing encouragement
Im 1 month post-op tomorrow and have lost a total of 22 pounds. 8 of those pounds I lost in my pre-op liquid diet and the other 14 pounds in the first week after surgery.
So Ive been on a stall for almost 3 weeks now!
Imbecoming so dicouraged and feeling the surgery wont work for me. I know I should stay off the scale and Im trying, but its so hard when im trying so hard and not seeing the results.
Did any of you go through anything similar in the begining? If you did when did the stall end??

OK...BREATHE.
This is perfectly normal. I went through this also. I was freaked out, panicky, and convinced I was going to be the one failure on this thing. Guess what...4 years later, here I am, 160 pounds lighter!
You body has gone through severe trauma by going through surgery. Give it time, you are still healing! And this would be a LOVELY time to step away from the scale. The RNY will do it's 'thang'!!!
Deep breathing right now.....this is typical for many of us.....I lost the first 2 weeks, stalled on week 3 and it lasted for 2 1/2 weeks and had a 6 lb loss overnight. The scale can be so evil, try not to let it dictate your success, use it as a tool only. Tough I know but if you are following your program, you will lose; there isn't much at the beginning that can stop the loss.
Good luck!

I had lots of stalls all the way through my weight loss. I would always regain a couple of pounds, and then sit there for 2 or 3 weeks, sometimes more. Then I'd drop 10 or 15 pounds in a couple of days, lose steadily for a while, and then regain and stall again. The weird thing is, I'd lose more inches when I wasn't losing pounds, and the other way around. Be sure you keep track of your measurements. It might help you get through those hard times.
This would happen frequently to me - I see it as the body needs time to catch up with the weight loss. As someone else has said, take your measurements as I know you will be losing inches when you are not losing pounds on the scale.
Take heart - you are doing great. If you don't already, check out your Feb 08 board - that way you can see what others who had wls the same month as you are doing and know that you are not alone in what you are experiencing.

I was waiting to reply to you untill some others did, because you know I love ya girl and I wanted you to see others say the same thing I am going to say! :) So I waited and now I can say this.....
Hiya sweetie! I was going to write to you and see how you were doing! And here you are! Aww, you are doing great! 22 lbs in a month! That is right on! Stalls are very normal...Go buy yourself a dressmakers tape measure and you'll see the inches melting off faster than the lbs. I remember thinking it was taking so long and I felt like I just wasn't doing as well as so many others...but I think I was just expecting to see it so much faster...and I just didn't. You'll see, these things MUST take time...You body is an amazing machine...It doesn't want you to starve and it thinks you are.
If you remember this and understand that your body is working for your best interest you will understand its job to hold on to those pounds despite what you are trying to do! It will all catch up and balance out. A year seems like forever when you count it a day at a time...Relax and just keep doing what you are doing (as long as you are following your rules!!!!):::Stern look:::: hehehe....you'll see...It's a strange process and just when you think it's not working...BAMMM...7-8 lbs just melts away....and after a year...you're going to be so satisfied if not happy as can be!
I remember each month the loss was fewer and fewer lbs....The first month was similar to yours...Then the next few months were 18 lbs a month...then 15...then 10 for quite a while...Then only 8 lbs...but eventually I lost 150 in all! Time...and patience (easier said than done!) I'm so proud of you! Just that you made it this far is awesome and I KNOW you didn't think it might even happen! You are doing so great!!! I promise!

I just went to check my weekly chart and at week 4 I was only at 15 lbs. So Lena is right BREATHE and give yourself time to adjust. I am 3yrs out and 86 lb down weighing 127 and still loosing. I think I only lost a few lbs a month but it stayed off with my help of course. Your loosing window is 16 months I believe if you had RNY so it will come, may be slower than you like but eventually you will come back to lety us graduates know you crossed over to a graduate.
Current weight:120 and still 5'4

Hmmmmm.... I could answer this question... or I could give you this link

Hang in there!

Thank you so much everyone for all your replies they really make me feel better and "normal".
I guess I feel that what I have invested in this emotionally, physically and financially is so great that I want to see my return NOW, but I realize i HAVE TO be patient....it will come for me too.
It gets a little frustrating when people ask "How much have you lost this week?" and I have nothing new to report. Also, the looks up and down to see how my body has changed. Just annoying and frustrating at times.
Beatrice, your reply made me laugh cause those are almost my EXACT thoughts! lol
