2 1/2 years out and so sick
I had revision RNY in 2005 and only lost 8 pounds last year. Since the end of January I have lost 30 pounds, been constantly nauseus and in constant pain. I had an endoscopy last week and found out that I have a nickel size ulcer at the top of my pouch that has eaten half way through. Doc put me on Nexium and pain pills on Thursday. I felt a bit better until Monday...then I started with the nausea and pain. Can't eat, nothing tastes right and I have dry heaves every time I try to eat. (Ihave been unable to throw up since my surgery). On the two occassions that I did throw up, it was right away and what came up is exactly what went down. Tonight I got sick again (on tomato soup made with water, not milk), dry heaves as usual, but started vomiting nasty tasting, sour bile.
I was so sick and afraid that I called my surgeon's answering service and got the doc on call. He told me I would be o****il tomorrow as long as I can drink and keep it down. He completely ignored the throwing up bile thing. I am afraid that maybe my ulcer perforated my stomach and that this is not right. I am very scared. I reiterated that I CAN'T THROW UP and this was highly unusual for me. He just told me to talk to my surgeon about it tomorrow.
Anyone ever had anything like this? Am I just being paranoid?
Thank you for any input.
Kim
OK it sounds like BILE is actually coming through your mouth. You are also not holding anything but gagging. When those things were happening to me, I had a bowel obstruction and they told me that if I waited, I would have perforated wthin the next 12-24 hours which would have caused bile leakage in my abdominal cavity and if not treatly timing is fatal. If I had perforated, I could have rapidly become septic and it may have been too late!!!!!! FOR ME, if I had waited until the next day, I may have lost my life. Please do let us know what you decide and what that find!!!!!! You can also PM me! Get well, Kim!
I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side. The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.
