Everything you need to know about Iron
Wanda
Sorry to hear that! But you're so not alone...that's for sure! I'm really glad you found it helpful, because I know my doc just didn't explain things enough to me and I'm one of those people that has to know what's going on even if I have no control over it! I still want to know the facts! I have had the craziest two months of non stop reading on Iron...You'd think with all the reading I did, my brain absorbed some of that iron! Sheesh!!! Lot's of stuff out there. (Lots of useless stuff too) I wish I had found this site first...months ago! That's why I am sharing it!
How is your doctor approaching your anemia?
I Wish you luck! Get better!

The doc is treating my anemia with Hemocyte (106 mg of elemental iron). My anemia is fairly mild. It sounds like you have been through a lot!

I think we were among the only 90's people started on nearly 300mg elemental iron. The iron lawas changed over time and most of the irons we used were taken off the market for reformulating or replackaging (lower doses required in bottles, higher doses in blister packs)
Most ppl do not start on any iron at all and then by the time they feel bad, they are playing catch up with the wrong types, way too little and not taught how to take correctly.
Hence why infusions are so prolific among our population. It leads to the conclusion that WLS = infusions. But one step is missed. WLS = malabsorption, so it's the not supplementing (right kind, enough or done properly) that leads to infusions.
What goes on below the waist has nothing at all to do with malabsorptoin. Young, old, male or female, we all malabsorb iron.

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
