How much of your sagging skin will snap back?

I'm 34 and spent 10 years going back and forth from being thin to overweight. I've had two children and they were very large babies. I will probably loose a good 60 lbs (52 thus far) during the 1st year of my band if I continue to work hard. I'm concerned that my sagging skin on my thighs, breast, and stomach will never snap back. I know I will need some type of tummy tuck down the line due to the weight and two pregancies. My question is how much of your skin snapped back? Oh and I do workout regularly along with stregthn training.

Docs say that your age has a lot to do with your skin's elasticity.  At your age it may be possible for your skin to be much less saggy than other folks, but large weight loss does create sags that just won't go away be excercise alone.  That has been my expereince.  Do as much excercise as you can and see what results you get.  I wouldn't rule ps in or out until your weight has been stable for many months and you know you have reached your peak physical condition.  I has some ps done (breast and stomach), but plan to live with the saggy thighs and upper arms. I am as toned as I will ever be and the amount of sag I have is moderate and tolerable for me right now, though I might change my mind about this.  Good luck

My doctor would tell you "look at your parents." If they look younger than they are, you have a better chance. I lost over 200 pounds and I was in my 40's, and I don't have as much excess skin as a lot of people who are younger and lost less than 100 pounds. But I do have my share of it. Some of it has snapped back during this second year after RNY, but I don't expect it to get much better. It's still better than being overweight though, so don't let it discourage you.

I have found as a general rule, that if there are stretch marks on the skin it wont shrink back but if the skin isnt torn and your young like you it will go back pretty good. good luck Hugs Terri

I was 36 (and 1/2)  when I had surgery 3+yrs ago and I have bounced back pretty well. I think its a combination of good genes (heredity), good skin elasticity and working out right from the start. So, I look pretty good in clothes~naked is a different story. I guess if I had a tummy tuck I would look better, but wouldn't most people age 40, LOL! You won't know for sure until you reach goal and stay there for a little while~I've found that I weigh the same weight that I did last year, but things have shifted a bit from when I first lost the weight~I still fit in the same size clothes, but the thighs are a little tighter and the waist is a little looser~this is a phenomenon that alot of people say they've experienced. Anyway, Congratulations on your success and I wish you continued success!!!!

The comment about the looser waist and the tighter thighs is true!!!  I have noticed a big change since I first had my surgery in that area.  My butt and thighs are bigger and flappier, but I suppose gravity has a field day where things are so loose!  Anyway, I too look pretty good in clothes, and my hubby loved me fat too, so who cares what  ilook like naked, right?  I do wish I could afford plastic one day, but if it never happens, I will still be very happy.  Thanks God I'm not toting around 275+ anymore!  Good luck!

My weight bounced around a lot after my kids...I would have large sucess losing 50-75 lbs at a time...and keep it off for a few years then stress or sickeness got me gaining again...My last time I quit smoking and gained 80 lbs! Then I got really sick with weight related problems such as diabetes... So most of my adult life 22-38 I weighed between 180-250...I was 315 for a year. My skin went back pretty well with some flaws where I have stretch marks as someone else mentioned. I maintain 165 lbs =or- 5 eaitehr way, usually. I'm going to be 44 this summer and feel better about how I look now than I have since before I had my first child at 22. I'm pretty satisfied without plastics...but I may still eventually go get a mini lowr tummy tuck and my neck!  OMIGOD I hate my extra neck skin!  That probably bothers me the most (and that happnes with age anyway!) But it's truly my worst area personally because you can't hide it with clothes and turtlenecks don't do it either!  Good luck!  I posted some risque photos last month to show someone and everyone and their brother found them somehow and began commenting and it shocked and embarrassed the holy heck outta me at first...but wow it felt good...so I just left them up there!  LOL  The heck with it! Hubby didn't mind so I don't either... Good luck!  You are young and don't have much to lose so might do well...No one vcan really say how well you'll do...but I can tell you this...It didn't happen overnight or by itself...I worked out hard to maintain muscle tone...and I drink a ton of water to keep hydrated. I used sun block my whole life too and always used lotions...So it truly helps to have good skin care too! Including water!

I was very surprised at how much of my skin has snapped back after 110 lbs gone.  I had a HUGE face, and now it just looks--normal.  No saggy skin, no weird hollows or folds.  I quit smoking about a year and a half prior to surgery, and I think that, plus genetics (Mom's skin is GORGEOUS at 68).  My arms are a little flabby, but nothing that will need surgery. I'll definitely need a TT, and a BL, but otherwise, everything has snapped back nicely.  Best to you :)
