I am over 5 years post op and have had no complications whatsoever. No hernias, no ulcers, no plastic surgery even. As far as weight gain, I can and do gain weight, but when I get to 5 lbs I take control of myself. I will battle food all my living days and I know this. I also have to work out every day and I knew that going into it as well.
There are no guarantees, sadly, other medical conditions can arise that are a direct result of the surgery. Who's to say where I will be next week, next month or next year? As for regain, that (in most cases) falls under the category of personal responsibility. If there are no underlying medical conditions, the reason for regain is the ability to re-eat.
Best of luck to you in your journey,
Traci

I am 3+yrs post op and have not had any major problems. I am also successfully maintaining my weightloss. As with any surgerical procedure, there are always complications that can occur, but for me the benefits outweighed those risks. Do I still struggle internally from emotional eating and food addiction~absolutely~I feel these are things I will probably deal with for life, but so far so good!

Thanks Everyone for all the coments I really am thankful. I feel as though this is something I should do but of course I am young I am only 23 and I fear the "long term" problems. So if anyone else would like to give me their input it would be also greatly appreciated and for those that already have thank you sooooooo Much!!
