Does anyone know of a good calcium citrate maybe liquid form?
I'm thinking of ordering some, as I could always mix some calcium into my crystal lite.
If you try it, tell me what you think!
For liquids, I've tried Blue Bonnet liquid calcium citrate w/ magnesium--comes in various flavors--I ordered from houseofnutrition.com. I liked it a lot--I ordered the blueberry.
I have also used Tropical Oasis liquid cal citrate w/ mag, but I can't remember where I ordered it from. You could Google it. I liked it--haven't ordered it for awhile--I think I just ordered the orange flavor. I switched over to the Blue Bonnet b/c I think it was a little cheaper.

I like the Upcal D too...but you have to make sure you get the one that says it is 500mg elemental calcium AS calcium citrate (CC)...or FROM CC
Also UpCal D doesn't have magnesium which keeps the calcium from binding you up...Calcium is really bad for many people and the magnesium keeps things running smoother! (KWIM?) Also...magnesium aids in the absorption of calcium...Regular adults need 300-400 mg of mag...but the ratio with CC is about 2 to1. CC being 2...magnesium being 1. We are supposed to take about 1000-1500 mg Calcium Citrate...so 500-750mg mag would be a good balance.
Magnesium is also said to :
• Increase efficiency of cell activity, thus helping to promote longevity
• Promotes and maintains cardiovascular health
• Promotes optimal mental function
• Less stress and an improvement in moods
• Improved sleep patterns
If you can find calcium citrate malate...it is 30% more absorbable than calcium citrate. I have seen it online at Vitamin Shoppe...I get a chewable version at Wegmans...But I have UpCal D too because the same tastes get to me day in day out and I have to change things up...Some days I cannot get myself to chew up 4 of those CC wafers! LOL I just cannot do it....So the Upcal D is a GREAT alternative (But I take mag too) I am magnesium deficient anyway...so I MUST take it..But I would take it regardless, for it's benefits with CC.
And exactly how much of this should I be taking to actually get the amount of absorbed calcium that's normally recommended?
Thanks! I'm trying to get back on track w/ my vits. Never stopped taking them, but I've just gotten lazy and know I'm not doing what I should be.

Jo,
That's good! This is what Vitalady was taking about a few weeks or a month ago about some Calcium's including UpCal D not being specific on their ingredient list....The words calcium citrate are not enough..Sometimes a brand will just say "elemental calcium" and you have no idea how much or what kind...It should say how much in mg's is actually calcium citrate or you shouldn't buy it....
Yours is perfect! :) You can only absorb 400-500 mg of calcium at once...So one daily serving is twice a day (1000mg)....But with malabsorption you need to watch your levels and may need 1500-2000 mg...It really depends on you and your labs.. I only take it twice a day (1000mg) But I was taking extra Vit D3 for a while and definitely magnesium too! I've been working for 6 months now to raise my levels...It seems like forever...But I get labs done 8 Aug! FINALLY!
I got a giant box of UpCal D packets for travel and keep a few in my handbag...I like the easy/gentle taste of them, unlike those wafers that just freak out my taste buds daily!
I got the box at Wegman's (not your average grocery store) But I have never even seen the cannister! I usually open a magnesium capsule and dump it right into the packet and then onto my tongue, but so many times I inhale and have a coughing fit! I'm so forgetful to not breathe..You'd think I'd learn by now, I sware I am just a big kid... I tried the BariatricAdvantage and LOVED those..but the price is a bit high...Then again when you have to add extra magnesium...you up the price anyway...so I just buy what ever I'm in the mood for! LOL It's just easy to put in a big order with Vitalady..her prices are good and save me all the running around...I have to go all over the place to find the stuff I like otherwise.
