High density protein sources--Edamame
I know I've touted how good dried peas are in the past. But I've also used dried edamame. This is an immature soybean, harvested at 80% maturity, parboiled to prevent any additional ripening and then dry roasted to make a snack. No refrigeration, 1/4 cup has 14 grams of protein, tastes somewhere between a peanut and a pistachio nut, somewhat crunchy, very lightly salted. More details on these on my profile page. I like this quote:
Soy is a "perfect food", and edamame is ready to eat--nothing to cook or prepare. It has the protein of meat, the fiber of a whole grain, and the antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals of the best vegetables and fruits.

Hi Shirley, if you haven't found edamame yet, check out the organic foods (frozen) section of larger grocery stores. I only purchase the 'shelled' bags, sometimes eat them raw, or a short nuke with Molly McButter and touch of garlic. If there are any Trader Joe's stores in your area, they sell it as well. Hope you're enjoying them, and if not---soon! Patti
