Great news, Anita!  I gave a friend of mine your name as she has been suffering with low iron for a year now.  Her PCP knows nothing about bariatrics and just continues to up her dosage of regular iron supplements.  And of course this isn't working.  So, I told her your story and that you have been your own best advocate by really researching and educating yourself.  I told her about the tender iron, and she said she was going to order some.  She said she may look you up on here if she had any questions about what all you take and such.

But, anyway, congrats again on getting those iron levels back up.

I love seeing good vitamin posts..I keep them in the back of my mind in case I need to do something like that. And keeping track of my labs like you are is a passion since I've seen so many un-success stories lately...Keeps me hopeful but vigilant about my own..
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Do you mind me asking if the Tender Iron upset your stomach ?

My iron is low and I am taking iron sulfate (per my doc) but am willing to try Tender Iron if it works so well!

I am tired of being tired....

Thanks!

Cindy

I noticed you had the DS...I don't know exactly how your anatomy works...but in medical studies Carbonyl iron works much better in absorption than iron salts (ferrous sulfate) in normal people as well as RNYers (who have little stomach acid).  So I think anyone would benefit by switching to it.

NO!  Tender Iron does not bother my stomach at all...or my bowels.  I do need to drink a large glass of water, a while after I take it, though....because it can make my throat a little tickly and leaves an odd taste in my mouth if I don't.  I'm not sure if the Vit C is what makes my throat tickly/ scratchy or the combo or what...but it happens if I take it late in the evening.  So I try to take it after dinner.  Other than that...It tastes good (weird but you get used to it)  And it is not toxic.  It's even child safe too.  UNLIKE ferrous sulfate which is so toxic and kills many children by accidental overdose, yearly.  Tender Iron is not toxic in very high doses.  Don't take it with calcium, or dairy, fiber or coffee.  (These things interfere with absorption)  DO take it though with Vit C as ascorbic acid (the cheap, familiar kind!)  2 mg of Copper can also aid in it's absorption...I take copper daily with my iron.

I felt a difference in two weeks...I felt warmer. I lost the urge to chomp on ice....I knew it was working...I felt my head cloudiness cleared too and I had more energy.  See if you can get tested after two months on it.  This way you'll see for yourself it it is making a difference.  You are more than welcome to PM me if you want more details or anything....

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!  (I bet you will once you get on it)
