WEIRD WEIGHT GAIN?

I had RNY 7-17-2003 and have been at the same weight 140-142lbs for over 2 yrs now.  Recently I was trying to lose 5-7lbs for my 25th high school reunion (Aug 2nd) and now I am up to 147.5.lbs.  Can anyone shed light on why all of the sudden when I try to lose weight I am gaining it?  I do not eat any more than I always have - even tried to eat only protein which seems to  make me gain also.  Any suggestions?  Thanks Laura.

Hmmm, I'm not sure why that would happen, but  more info would be helpful. What were you eating before you were trying to lose? What did you start eating after you decided to lose more? How many calories per day? Did you up your exercise or weight training during this time?

Something similar happened to me and I think it is because muscle weighs for than fat.  I started drinking my shakes again and exersising more.  My doc told me I would probably notice it in my clothes more than on the scales.  Good luck and God bless, Penni

My first year pretty much all I ate was protein and drank protein shakes.  I slowly added the rest as I could handle it.  I was pretty nauseous for a long time and I had and still do have stomach  issues especially at night.  I never feel good after I eat dinner - doesnt seem to matter what it is or what time.  I know I probably was eating too much sugar ( 1 bite size candy bar only) but for the first 2 yrs I did not eat hardly any or I would get really sick.  I wish I would have never added sugar back into my diet because it seems my sweet tooth is worse since WLS.  So I have taken it pretty much completely out of my diet.  I know so many people who have gained their weight back and when the scale starts going up it is a legitimate fear.  I bought some protein shakes yesterday and will make it a goal to drink at least 1 a day and make smarter food choices.  Thanks for the imput - God Bless!!  Laura.
