Who here low carbs?
oh boy..well I am no expert ...but get high fiber bread... fiber one cerals or kashi or anything that is high in fiber and lower in sugar( i do not dump) but still try lower sugar especially if i am trying to loose weight..sugar is a bad thing!
I eat plenty of fresh fruit and veggies... whole wheat pasta versus white, brown rice., whole wheat baking mix.... try to go brown:-) hope that helps.

Hi Mariposah,
I'm currently trying to work a lower carb program also, didn't worry much about carbs when I hit maintenance @ the 13 month mark, but by yr 3 I put on 10 lbs from my low and am uncomfortable with the gain, so started thinking about modifications...At first I set a goal to keep them under 30 a day, this was not working well for me, could not get enough cals in to be in a healthy daily calorie intake...So I switched it up again, helped with my total cals and keeps me going on a better protein total too - what I am currently doing is working to keep total daily carbs at 1/2 or less total daily protein...This is going pretty well for me + I lost 1 lb in the last 2 weeks, at this stage losing is slow going so I am happy with the progress and my weight has been steady daily since I started eating like this instead of my former 2-3 lbs daily flux...
As to what I eat to meet this protein/carb goal, that varies daily...Try to avoid high white carb choices and high carb fruits but for me the real key is finding proteins to balance the carbs I choose...

I eat a lower carb diet but also am not overly strict about it. I just know that (for example) since last night I ate doritos, today I will not be able to have bread with breakfast. Kind of an in versus out deal for me. I put too many calories in last night so today I have to expel a bit more. And also, since those bad carbs fuel my desire to eat more I stay careful in the days following until I get the beast back in its cage.
The carbs I normally consume are beans, fruit and whole grain breads. Rice and pasta of any kind I can't personally do. It doesn't sit well with me.

I guess I am half-way low carbing it, if that makes sense. I have been consciously avoiding carbs and sweets, and choosing meats, cheese, nuts and protein bars and shakes to eat. I have not cut out carbs all together, as I still get milk in, and my protein shakes and bars all have carbs in them. Maybe once a day I have a piece of fruit. So, not low enough in carbs to be considered atkins, not going to put me into ketosis or anything, but definitely avoiding the carbs for the most part.
