You are such an exciting encouragement, Yorkiemom!  Thanks for that!  I need to work on water and protein.  I've never gone off my vitamins but have definitely not worked on the water and protein, so here I go!  Wish me luck!

Sheryl,
My heart goes out to you because I know how painful regain can be. I think it is just getting back to basics. What did you do early out?

For me, I tracked every little thing that went into my mouth at fitday.com. I got in at least 100 grams of protein a day and stayed away from too many carbs...especially simple ones. I planned my food and took it with me to avoid having to settle for fast food or be hungry. Protein, veggies and some good complex carbs should get you back on track. When I find that I have to get back on track, I cut out the simple carbs (sugars and white stuff), increase my water and up the protein. It does the trick.

Sheryl, sometimes the first step is the hardest - the getting started part.

With the DS: there is no stoma, so no stoma strictures; there are no limitations (other than volume) against drinking before, during or after meals; 80% of ingested fat is malabsorbed; 98.9% of type II diabetics are CURED of this devastating disease, with data showing stable cure over 10 years out; there is the best average weight loss and most durable (average 76% excess weight loss going out 10 years) of all of the bariatric surgeries.  That's why I had a DS!

Dianne, thank you so much for your encouragement.  I'm glad to know from you and others that the pouch will still work if I feed it correctly!  I need to get back to work on my protein and water.  I sincerely appreciate your help!

Sheryl and Melissa, you've gotten good advice from the others, I'll just echo what they said.

I am so fearful of regain, I've been bouncing back and forth for some time.  Right now I'm above my high limit and need to refocus and get back on track.  I've been so lax and I guess in "denial", dealing with stress makes it tough.  So I am also going to get back to drinking my water (I have really struggled with it lately) and focus on protein and veggies.

Good luck, you can do it!

Hi Sheryl -- I too have been struggling. I had lapband about 18 months ago and lost 130 pounds and have just plateaued for months. Sugar has crept back in. Snacks and grazing have come back. I feel like I am fighting my band constantly - trying to eat more than I really can. I even pb because of the food. It feels like I am insane.
I so appreciate your post because it helps us all reset our priorites.   Protein. water. low carbs.  Water first. Very few if no snacks.   Now just doing it.
I am praying for your success - please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing!

This is the Day the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it!
