Am I The Only One?
I had my sugery a year and a half ago and have reached goal. I was actually below goal for about an hour. Now I am starting to go back in the wrong direction. But here is the thing - I barely eat solid food and I know when I do they are the wrong ones. I usually have a RTD shake for breakfast, soup for lunch and soup for dinner. But I eat during the day - low carb protein bars or protein chips or cheese. I don't (can't) eat chicken or eggs and am still afraid to eat almost anything else. I am so afraid of the foamies. So what do I do? I think I am getting my protein. Between the breakfast shake at 40 grams and cheese and peanut butter protein balls the protein part seems ok. But how can I get myself to start eating real foods? I have had shrimp or salmon a few times and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I don't want to even buy anything to cook because I don't like leftovers and barely eat four or five bites of anything. Does anyone have any advice? Suggestions? Anything?

Oh my goodness!! You poor thing - a year and a half ago and you still aren't able to eat solid food!!! This is just my un medical opinion, but that doesn't sound right to me and like something is wrong somewhere.
Do you think it is just fear that is holding you back, or something physical? Either way, I would suggest you seek medical advice on this.
Sorry, I have no other suggestions...

The reason, I believe, you are "starting to go back in the wrong direction" is because you are eating slider foods and never taught your pouch to tolerate dense protein. You have to have dense protein or your pouch never learns to eat it, never gets used to it. A friend of mine had surgery and when things get tough she goes back to liquids. That's the wrong technique...You have to take each level, each phase and get through it.. Of course, that's just my opinion but that's what it looks liek to me.
Granted you need to start slow and chew thoroughly but you have to or you'll be on soft things forever.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I agree with the other poster re: slider foods. Also,
1. What kind of soup are you having for lunch?
2. how many protein bars are you eating in a day?
3. How many calories are those protein bars?
4. How many calories are you having in protein chips? cheese?
You may be consuming too many calories. It sounds like you're eating all day.
