How easy is it for you to gain?
Happy New Year, Everyone! It has been awhile since I have posted. I am wanting to find out how easy it is for others to gain weight. If I eat over 1200 calories a day, I gain weight. It is nothing for me to put on 2 pounds overnight. I'm NOT talking pigging-out, just not able to eat very much. Some will try and tell me that that is jus****er. Maybe for them, but not for me....I believed that 10 pounds ago! And it is A LOT worse when I do not get my daily exercise! My family actually feels sorry for me because of how little I eat and yet can still GAIN weight and not just maintain. After having weighed 450+ pounds, I know my metabolism is still messed up, but I am working out 5 days a week, etc. I also keep track of my food intake on fitday.com. Well, I was just wondering if others find it so easy to gain weight. Thanks and God bless!
Cindy

WOW! what a transformation you have had.. God Bless you.. you should be very proud
Don't fret... weight gain is very easy for many of us..
I just have to look at a carb and I am shot.. and the holidays are carb central..
I have found just a little straying send my scale sailing..
so what can I say.. I am victim of what this surgery does to your metabolism..
you will have a hard time finding anyone who will admit this but after this surgery you basically have no metabolic weight loss function.. the initial weight is loss because of the reduction in intake... not any metabolic function.. so the loss is harder after the initial period. and the gain easier. your metabolism is now functioning on the lower intake and when you deviate.. watch out..
I have learned this the hard way..
Get back on track and stay there..
It is my struggle everyday

Cynthia, I'm literally puzzled at how my body works. I'm not even sure what is the right amount of calories as no matter if I eat 1000 or if I eat 1600 per day I tend to say within a 1-3 lbs variance both ways. I fully expected to see some weight gain with all the junk food I've been eating between Thanksgiving and Christmas and I have actually been in my maintance range still.
Sorry I cannot help you but wanted to say wow you look fantastic!

I do that too;but, it's called not taking a crap. To be honest, poor eating affects my stools which, IMNSHO, has more to do with weight gain than actual food. When you think you've gained 2 real pounds, ask yourself: did I really eat 6,000 more calories than usual?
I've got nothing against constant vigilance but 2 pounds can be attributed to daily habits. I give myself a 5 pound range and I'm always up or down within that range and I don't eat more or fewer bad foods than any other day. Women, due to hormones, may need a 10 pound range and I'd bet, if you gave yourself a month you would be up or down within the same 10 pounds. That's what my wife has noticed anyway.

Each of us is different. I have no doubt that you can gain a pound or two if you eat anything over your "limit." Probably because your Resting Metabolic Rate is alot lower than mine...I guess my limit is about 1800 calories. I tend to average that and don't gain or if I do gain it's a fraction of a pound over weeks...I'm up to 129 pounds now from 125 last summer...I'm not sure I can stop it from going up but I've drawn a line in the sand at 130. I don't want to get to that "line."
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

Dawn, how tall are you? My limit is 130 lbs also, I'm only 5'2" (was 5'1" before surgery). I am more comfortable at 123-125 but have found it harder to stay there this far out. When I creep up to 129 I really watch what I eat for a couple of days and can still (thankfully) drop a couple of lbs pretty quickly.

Dawn don't give up! You may have to switch your eating routine around a little. Maybe even more protein, lower carb (just try 25-30 grams less) and see what happens. It is a battle, one we'll fight for life but WE CAN DO IT! Make sure you are being reasonable with yourself of what is a good weight, healthwise; not scale wise.
