I need help
I can relate... not dieting but really closely monitoring what goes in as to not gain.
But if I think about it thats what any thin person does.. I mean people that maintain a weight have to be vigilant about it everday..maybe we are just doing what we are supposed to?
I dont know either but just tossing that out as a thought!
Take care

If you're trying to lose and you've been doing the same 2 miles and 2-3 days of weights for a period of time, then it's time to increase the intensity. Your body will adjust as you become more effecient at what you're doing. If you want to lose, you'll have to do more, becuase what you're doing only got you to this point. You can change the intensity in one of several ways...on the treadmill, increase the elevation, increase the speed, or increase your overall time/distance. On the weights, increase your reps, your sets or your weight.
As far as your intake, I'm with the others. It may be time to visit with an RD. Take some food logs with you. If no time or money for that right now, log your food on fitday.com or some other site that allows you to see calories, fat, fiber and protein. Double check yourself and make sure you're tkaing in what you think you are. Overtime it is easy for our concentration to slip and our judgement be off. Get out the measuring cups and food scale to ensure you're getting adequate nutrition.
Best of luck to you, in whatever your goals are.

I was in the same boat. stayed the same for 2 yrs, not my goal, but couldn't lose the extra 40 lbs I wanted to. But for the last 10 days I diligently wrote everything I ate & wrote every drop of liquid that went into my mouth. I started at 1000 cal. Then by mistake I added 200 extra cal. And I have lost 5.5 lbs. Yes I think our metabolism is messed up since the RNY,for some of us anyway. Ppl said to add more cal before on here but I was afraid to. But I believe my magic number is 1200 cal a day with lots of water. Here's what I ate on Thur.
6:30 3 slices turkey bacon & 1 egg 150 cal
9AM protein shake 90 cal
11AM light laughing cow cheese & 4 wheat crackers 70 cal
1:30 PM 1/2 grilled turkey sand & 7 FF 350 cal
3PM 1/2 protein shake 60 cal
5PM 1/2 grilled turkey sand, g-beans 350
8PM protein shake 90 cal.
-----------------
total 1160
96 oz water
20 oz coffee
I did the treadmill for approx 60 min.
I know it sounds scarry to eat more but try writing EVERYTHING down for 2 week & play with it & maybe you'll start to drop again. during the holidays I put on 4 lbs & that freaked me out/ That is why I started being totally honest. I was going to write everything down to show to my Dr to show him that I was staying with the program & having trouble. But I don't think I need to now. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

If you dont want to change the food , try adding squats ( 25) a day and lunges (25) a day to start for about a week to your workout...Raises your heartrate and adds a bit to what your doing ...I did this, am up to about 40 of each , twice a day and in 6 weeks have gone down a size and PLUS LOL . my butt and thighs have never looked so good ..
Dont give up , you have to vary your workout and too, one day eat more , next day less etc ,,,,Your body will get used to a routine and you will eventually get stuck there if everything is always the same..
Wishing you success

It's good to see you again! I, too, had my surgery in '04; and I, too, have struggled--for about the past 2 yrs. I had actually reached goal and then "got stupid" and gradually regained about 40 lbs. I have started a new commitment to do all the things I know I need to do, including getting back to the gym. I honestly just want to lose about 25 lbs.
I'm with those who think your calorie intake sounds low. Not horrendously low, but possibly just enough that you're defeating your purpose.
I agree that you probably need to add to your workout time and/or intensity. Although I think you're doing well with your present routine, it maybe sounds more like a good amount for maintenance rather than for losing.
I don't care what anybody says; if I want to lose and/or maintain, I have to "diet"! There may be other ways of wording it, but for me, it amounts to the same thing. I know "dieting" is a dirty word, but . . . a rose by any other name . . . (I basically considering dieting to be eating in any way that restricts or modifies how I would really like to be eating!)

Hi there,
I just saw this post for some reason....sorry!
I agree 100% about the dieting thing. I feel any type I restrict what I would like to eat, it is dieting.
I tried what you all said and upped my workout. I started on Friday. I am sweating more and feel more tired after, so I think it was a good move.
I would love to just lose another 40 lbs....I hate it becuase others tell me I look fine, but really, I don't feel fine. I know if you look at and compare it to how I used to look...then yeah, it is good....but not good if you dont compare....LMAO! Funny, huh?
