My gosh this week went slow! After 42 minutes of Wii last night I had a sf cookie...That exercise really makes me crave the carbs..But my abs are getting stronger AND smaller...That I really like. And the scale isn't moving up yet either. logically, I know that has to change but I'm loving staying where I am.

Is anyone else ready for the weekend?

How did you do today?

I've been reading your post on the glory of TVP  I found some at the local health food store it is sold in bulk form.  SO now what?
How do I use this stuff.
Do I just put it in the oatmeal like you would nuts or granola?
I'd love to hear
Thanks a million Paula

Paula,

Welcome to TVP! LOL. Actually, I put it in my oatmeal before I cook it.

I have used it in quiches, chili, hamburger helper, malto meal, oatmeal and then I put it on top of yogurt or sf pudding too. It's like a nut topping for sweet stuff like pudding or frozen yogurt but if you pour boiling water over it, it looks and acts alot like ground beef, without the beef taste OR fat.

I found some that was flavored like ham (called hamish) from harmony house foods, on line and poured boiling water over it, added dried parsley flakes and some mayo, you have ham spread for a sandwich or for crackers. I used the chickenish bits like that too. Pea sized bits, dried onion flakes, parsley flakes and some boiling water...then raspberry viniagrette and poured it over lettuce and tomatoe for a salad...

The non-flavored stuff will take on whatever flavor you put with it. I'm thinking some boiling water and some chicken boullion powder and you've got chicken flavor or beef boullion...beef flavor..

But plain, un-reconstituted you can put it on yogurt and/or pudding and it's got a nutty flavor and adds crunch. But then you can do a search on the internet for soy granules or textured vegetable protein. There are tons of recipes out there!

I'll give it a go.  I like oatmeal in the morning and sometimes at lunch at my desk so this would really add the protien and the crunch I need.  I'll let you know.
Thanks
