Lap-band revision to RNY
Greetings;
I have read that the Lap-band may be used to help "tighten" the pouch after the RNY procedure. Has anyone else heard of such a thing? Any insight on this or experience with it?
I am nearly 5 yrs post RNY and am experiencing some issues with regain. I am up about 25 pounds since my lowest. I am devestated and feel like a failure. I have eliminated carbs and sugar (within reason), but fear I have stretched my pouch beyond repair. I am wondering if the band may help me to gain and keep control.
Your opinion and insight will be appreciated and helpful.
All the best,
SPea

IMHO - After having "suffered" with the band for 4+ years and recently revising to RNY, if my RNY fails there is no way I would have that damn band re-installed. I'm certainly not an RNY grad, but the band was so bad for me I would never consider it again.
Everyone always posts suggestions like tracking your food, upping your protein, lowering your carbs and watching your water intake with meals...I would try all that first, second and third...and only then consult with an expert who has given bands to RNY'ers more than a few times.
Good luck, I wish you the very best!
