I'm not understanding what, and how you know if you are a canidate for a RNY Revision??? I have contacted several Dr's offices here in Texas, they mention stuff like Co-Morbid resolution , Medibolic Failure, Or "something New" as a result of weight gain. What does that mean, and how should I know if I have developed any of that. The original Surgeon refuses to look inside me, just told me I failed as a patient of the WLS. Not to place all the blame on him or me, he had done less than 100 operations when he performed mine, maybe he did something wrong.... Can anyone Please help in Simple English what More they expect . Medicare will cover the procedure, but How The Heck do you quailfy????

NahNah,

Give us some more details.  Your surgery was in 2004?  How much did you lose?  Have your regained any?  Why do you want a revision?  Co-morbidities would be other diseases made worse by your weight.  Metabolic failure is diabetes and other disease of the endocrine systems.

Normally the first step to a revision is to have an upper GI done.  This will allow the Doc to see if your surgery is still intact.  Your PCP can order this.

Your surgery may have failed you, but you didn't fail!  I can't beleive your Doc told you that!

Thank you Michele for taking the time to explain those Terms. It makes sense to me. Yes I am 5 yrs. out as of last month. I was 398, lost 126lbs. the first nine months , then came to a stand still. The surg. was a blessing, but I had a really hard time. I didn' have many physical complications , just never lost my appetite , was always hungry, and could consume large amounts of food, even sugar without dumping. As a result this last year I climbed back to 330. I want a Revision because none of the presenting health issues have been resolved, many other issues have developed as a result of the extra Pounds my poor knees and joints are forced to carry. I will ask My PCP to order the Upper GI, then perhaps I'll have something to work with for Medicare.....

Get the Upper GI done, from what you've said, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an issue.

You may have to go away from home to find a new surgeon, as most do not like to do them.  Revision to DS has worked for many, you might want to consider that as well.  Reach out to both the Revision and DS boards for additional advice.

Keep us posted!
