I'd like to know about the success of anyone that belongs.  Have you been successful?  If so how much weight have you lost and how long etc. etc.

I'm considering joining because I just can't seem to get off my last 20 to 25 lbs.  I feel as though I need support as well as help to get restructured.

Anything you could share would be appreciated.

Marie

I have tried WW after rny, but it makes me think about food all the time. So i stopped. I do better without all the emphasize on food.Good luck, it is a good program and has worked for many, even after WLS.

Hi Marie, I concur with the above poster, I tried the one week trial as an experiment and I was OBSESSED with food during that first week, and that is not good for an emotional eater like myself.

However, I have seen many people on here use WW and see success!  I am so proud of them!!

I am restructuring by going back to what I know worked for me, protein, healthy snacks, and staying away from the crap.

The most important thing that works for me is moving, but that has also turned out to be a huge roadblock of late.  So it's something that will be a work in progress until my strength gets better. :)

I hope this helps.  You have come to the right place for support.

In my opinion, we all know what to do and how to do it, we just don't do it!!
I decided to give the WW online a try.  My goal was to "shake things up" in terms of my ability to give myself some structure again.  I wanted to avoid the diet mentality and use it as just another tool for documenting my food intake.  I stuck to the rules of the pouch, etc but instead of using fitday, I tried to put everything down in terms of points and stick to my point limit.
Sounds good in theory doesn't it!!!  But for me, it was too hard to escape that diet mentality and I found myself veering off course and using points as an excuse to eat those nasty carbs....for example I was thrilled to discover that I could add a light english muffin to my breakfast for only 1 point!  Problem was, it added calories that I should have used elsewhere and carbs that I didn't need!
My issues are that when I get into that diet mentality, I self sabotage.  Sure enough, instead of dropping the 10 pounds that I wanted to drop, I gained 5.
I've since stopped the WW documenting and am now lurking around reading accountability posts and trying to learn from them.  I feel that (for the moment) I'm regaining control ****il the next moment when I lose it again).  At least the scale is moving down again instead of up.
So, for me, doing WW again was not an answer, it spiraled me into old thinking mentalities and bad WLS habits.  Thats not to say it won't work for you.  WW is one of the best nutritionally sound programs out there.  Give it some thought, try to identify what it is you are looking for and make a sound plan of action that you can follow.

Where would my weight be today if I was on WW all this time?  Not here, thats for sure!

WW is working for me!  And my mom, watching me, is motivated again as well (she's also an rny'er).  I joined in January and I've lost 14+ pounds so far.  The main thing I've realized it how much FAT I was eating.  WW has helped to cut that out and eat more veggies!

I don't know that I could have done it BEFORE my surgery.  I think I would have been hungry all the time.  But I know my surgery still works too!  I absolutely LOVE WW.

I think the thing that makes it work for me is calculating the points.  When I figure the points of something, I decide it's not worth so many points and I don't feel deprived.  It's more of a choice not to spend that much on THAT food.  I've lost 1/3 of the weight I want to lose.  I really think I can get back to my lowest (and normal BMI) weight!

Good luck to you, whatever you decide!

I'm giving it a try.  I've been on it a week and so far am sticking with it.  I'm coming up on my 6th surgiversary (5/8/03) and have regained a totally unacceptable 60 lbs .  While I am focused much of the time on food, at least it's a positive focus, and not the negativity of the food controlling me.  Most days I still can't believe I allowed that much regain, but it all started after my 2nd anniversary.  My appetite came back, and along with it, the cravings.  I'm really counting on this working for me.  I've lost 3 lbs the first week.  I'm sure it will be slow, but I MUST do something!

Hi Betsy:

It's defintely slow!  That's one thing I've fussed about.  I joined January 6 and so far have lost almost 16 pounds.

But the weight didn't come back overnight, blah blah blah.  You know all that!  Plus I really feel like I can do this long term, as a lifestyle change!

One thing I've had a shift in thinking about 'messing up'.  I can go crazy at ONE MEAL and then go back to healthier eating.  Previously, I'd go crazy for the rest of the day or even week!

Are you on the WW boards?

Take care,
Laina

Laina - Wow, congratulations on losing 16 lbs.  I agree with you about "messing up".  I've had a couple of days where I used a few (or more than a few) flex points.  I've never grasped that concept before when I've tried WW.   I haven't really figured out the WW boards yet.  Do you?  I have a Monthly Pass and I track my points online, and also on my Blackberry (I love that I can check points and update my tracking on the go -  that way nothing gets missed).

I do visit their boards.  There are lots of ideas, tips, tricks, etc.  I do all the eTools too.  I wish I had mobile access but I don't want to pay those monthly charges!!!
