I need to find a happy medium and I am such a carnivore...LOL. I put the carbs on my plate but once I eat the protein, I just don't eat them. I certainly don't want to "waste" lean burger meat or steak. LOL.

I'd share my protein with you for sure. I just can't get into too much bread. I tried with breakfast. Nothing better than soaking up egg yoke with wheat toast.

Yup, do overs are a GOOD THING. LOL

Keep up the good work. See ya!

Hi Dawn:   For 2 1/2 years I have been trying to follow my surgeon's general diet.  I have had hunger that is through the roof.  I have tried so hard and yet I cheat...not often but enough to make me gain weight back.  35 lbs more than the morning of surgery.  My blood sugars have been crashing 2 or 3 times daily and yet my A1Cs are normal because of the high blood sugars in between.  I have been studying what you eat.  I thought I would try to really stop eating carbs...as many as possible.  I only wish I had tried this years ago.  I hate to not follow the guidelines given to me by my doctor though.  For the past few days I have decided to eat veges and lean protein only.  I have been keeping my protein just over 100 which is fine with my endocrinologist.  I know so many of you do this from the get go but my nut's diet included fruit, milk and starches from the beginning.  A couple of weeks ago my nut said I can eat any veges I want.  I can eat this way and still follow the weigh****chers plan.  I take a vitamin, 3 gms of fish oil and 3 calcium citrates.  I can tolerate the constant empty pouch feeling now that my appetite has subsided.  I have no desire to eat anymore.  My blood sugar hasn't crashed even after swimming.  I am totally stumped.  I don't understand it but am so extremely grateful!   I know it is impossible to eat this way forever but I can do this as often as possible.  What do you think?Daisy

No. You sure can't stay at 700 calories for too long at all. That's why dieting before surgery didn't work. It's just not sustainable for long.

There are plenty of carbs in veggies so your nut is right. Yes, you need some carbs but so long as your blood sugar isn't reacting and you aren't crashing...stick with it. Don't give in to the temptation to add any white carbs because they will just cause you to want more and more.

I'm so glad you're feeling better and doing better...that's awesome. There are so many good things we can eat, why waste that pouch space on white carbs? Thanks for posting. You made my day. I'm so glad it's working.

Keep up the good work. See ya.
