Heartburn at 5 years out

Hello Everyone....

This past week I have been experiencing heartburn which since my RNY have never had a problem with.  Today I needed to take a pepcid AC.  I always thought that once we had the WLS RNY there was no longer any worries about getting heartburn because our stomach acids are sealed off to the rest of our system.  Am I misinformed about this and does anyone have any suggestions or advice to give me?

 Thanks

were you done open or lap? do you know if you were stapled (only) or transected?

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

I believe you were misinformed. I've now had 2 ulcers because of too much stomach acid in my pouch.

Please spay and neuter your pets!

My  surgeon tells all of his RNY patients that after surgery they will need to take either Prilosec, Protonix, Prevacid, Nexium, or Aciphex. Says we are more susceptible to ulcers forming and need  one of these meds to help prevent them.
