Insomnia/Restless Leg

I am two years out and suddenly have been dealing with terrible insomnia and a strange case of what I think is restless leg syndrome.  Anyone experience this?  Could this be caused by a vitamin deficiency.

I don't go back for labs until August.  So far I haven't been deficient in anything, but this is driving me absolutely bonkers!

I have suffered from RLS for years.  Nothing to do with my WLS (my Dad had it, too).  I take carbidopa/levodopa for it.  I've tried Requip and one other that either didn't work or left me feeling groggy in the morning.

I also suffer from insomnia and take Ambien CR.  Used to take just Ambien, but found myself waking up at 1 AM and not being able to get back to sleep.

I've been taking my vitamins since my band surgery and they make no difference in either the RLS or the sleeplessness.

I hope you find the root of your problems and can find an effective treatment.

where are these levels? iron, ferritin, CBC?

possibly no one is testing the whole group of about 17 tubes. Vit D, B12, folate and magnesium are players, but usually iron is the culprit. Ferritin over 50 usually solves the problem, but some need the level over 100.

if you have not supplemented iron by the hundreds of mg, not inthe ferrous form, it's certainly possible. Lots of ppl take rx, but more 'n more of us fix our iron and poof, no rx needed.

get copies of your labs. every time

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

I am dealing with this same issue - High TIBC, Low saturation, and low total iron.  did a little research, found out that there are TONS of symptoms relating to iron deficient anemia, and the RLS and inability to rest well are just two of many...  I am almost 5 years post op, and have been told my iron was too high, due to the high TIBC (for 15 months), so have been truly damaging myself in my ignorance/trust in my dr's information.  I'll be seeing a specialist next week, so hopefully I can un-do some of this damage.  Always do your own research on your labs, even if you trust in your medical staff...  i've had no other problems post op, at all. I am dilligent in making sure my health is always at the top of my list.  my prayers are with you...
