Please do not flame on me I'm not the one taking the pills.( I had PS & still maintain my loss)
I have been having a discussion with a  4 yr post op.   She keeps telling me that she is going to start taking 1500 mg Acai berry pills (vitamin world brand).  She claims that she can not lose the 20lbs she put on in 2 yrs.
I told her that she shouldn't take these pills. She said that they are natural, gel pills & she could absorb them, that they would be safe for her to take.
What is your take on these pills? Will she be able to absorb these? Will they cause rapid heart rate?
thanks

The acai berry pills are safe to take. (are they going to help her lose 20 lbs? I doubt it.) Acai berries have been around for thousands of years. The bushmen in foreign countries have been chewing them for quite awhile now. It's Oprah and Dr. Oz that have made them "the latest trend in weight loss". No, they aren't new, not to your basic health enthusiast any way.
What they are, is a concentrated form of anti-oxident thats found in berries. Definately good to fight off free radicals, ward off a cold perhaps, but to lose weight? I highly doubt it. You can find acai juice and acai capsules at any reputable vitamin store. Personally, I wouldn't waste my money. Just my two cents.
