My surgery is scheduled for this thursday (2/3/05) and I am getting so nervous about it. It all came together so quickly and now I am wondering if I am ready for everything....giving up food.....facing why I overeat....possibly not surviving the operation. Am I alone....because a lot of the posts from ppl are about how excited they are. I want to be healthy. I am just scared of all the unknown. Any help would be appreciated. David Charles

hi david. i was scared of every one of the things you're scared of. specially, dying. that was my biggest fear. like you, i didn't have that much time to prepare- it all came together really fast. but i can tell you i was never happier then when i woke up after the surgery. i have never been under anesthesia for any kind of major surgery before (only for a colonoscopy and that doesn't compare). and it was quite an experience. like, i didn't know that they spread your arms wide. i felt like i was put on a cross. the food thing is hard. you have to work really hard. i think the surgery is a great thing cause i control the amount i eat now (cause i'm afraid of hurting my self) where before it never seemed like i got full- i would eat and eat. i still eat some things that i'm not supposed to, like too many carbs, but i've lost 31 pounds so far and i'm starting to be able to tell in my clothes. i would do it again. good luck and break a leg and all that stuff and i know you'll do great!! sue
