I have been reading, again, more and still. Birth control after WLS. I may be a bit older than alot of you women. I take birth control pills not just so that I won't get pregnant (God forbid!! I'm 50 years old), but because of premenapausal bleeding. I was having a 2 week period every other week!! Too much for anyone. My gyn put me on the pill and life has been sweet ever since. Since then I have recently gotten married and don't want to chance getting pregnant. It's not just pregnancy, I don't want to bleed to death either. Any ideas????

Maureen, Can you go on the patch? Still same protection but I am not sure if it will help with the bleeding..... Just a thought! Sue

I take BC and I guess I am getting what I need of it because I am having periods. But I was so scared that I would get PG that I got my tubes tied a couple of weeks ago to make sure. Both Dr.s told me that when you lose weight you might ovulate more often than before. And you never know exactly how much of the BC you will absorb or won't absorb after the surgery. I just had to make sure.

I was put on the birth control ring which seems to be fine. You insert it into the vagina once every 21 days giving yourself a 7 day rest period where you have your period.
