Topic: Any other children's writers on here?
Hi!
I write for children and am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) in Arizona.
Does anybody else in this forum write for kids? Maybe we could start an online critique group.
I write picture books, easy readers, chapter books and middle grade novels. Also have experience in writing for children's magazines.
Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks so much for the information! I write children's stories and also write women's fiction (romantic suspense / romance). I'm going to check this out right now since January is right around the corner. Will pass the information on to the writing group I belong to here in town.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

hI everybody!
Did you see that Barnes and Noble offers free writing classes? Go to http://www.bn.com and then look towards the top of the page to see 'BN University'. There is currently a science fiction writing class and a mystery writing class (both free) to enroll in for January.

I've tried Hollywood Screenplay. I like Final Draft better. Good luck with your screenplay.

Topic: Writing Competition
Hi Everyone,
I'd like to invite all writers to take part in a writing competition at www.theolympianpen.com , there is already a story there which needs to be continued, then there will be another competition to continue the winner's story etc. Eventually we have plans to publish the story, it's completely free to enter. Previously the idea was to bid on eBay, but now it's all changed, there are now no charges whatsoever!!
If you prefer we have another story too http://www.olympianpen.com/NewEnglish/index.htm which needs continuing.
Many thanks

That's terrific -- I'll have to check out UCLA. Your date is coming up fast. I've been out of the hospital since Sunday and have already lost 5 pounds. It was easy -- I was so surprised.
Hugs!

Sheryl.
I'm working on one too. I've finished a couple, but nothing worth selling. Have you tried taking any classes? I've gotten a lot out of the ones I've taken. Two were online with UCLA. Awesome teachers.

Topic: RE: I'm working on a screenplay
HI Gina!
No -- I've never taken a class in screenplay writing -- I'm a big believer in whatever you want to know can be found at the public library.
I read everything I could get my hands on and still do about screenwriting. I like all the screenwriting web sites too.
Good books: How to Write a Movie in 21 Days by Viki King; and Successful Scriptwriting By Jurgen Wolff and Kerry Cox (first 6 chapters).
Also, I am in several screeplay writing groups in Yahoo, MSN and AOL. And I belong to Arizona Screenwriters Association - - http://www.arizonascreenwriters.com .
You can also get a great screenplay writing guide for $14.95 at http://www.screenplayguide.com - it's really terrific. It's a four page laminated guide that makes the whole process a lot easier.
This is the first time I haven't collaborated -- all my own effort and ideas this time. And no, haven't sold a script yet.
What attracts me is the $$$$$. LOL! Actually, I would rather work on a 120 page script than a 300 page manuscript. Call me LAZY!
I do 'reading' scripts as opposed to 'shooting' scripts - you don't have to worry about camera angles and other technicalities this way.
