Back On Track Together
New to the group - glad to be here
Hi all,
i'm 3.5 years post-op (RNY), 33 lb. above my lowest post-surgery weight, and 45 lb. from my goal.
2 weeks ago a Shopping trip to buy new pants brought me to a rude awakening and forced me to wake up to the truth I'd been denying: I'd lost control and regained 38 pounds over the past 18 months. I immediately starting reading the discussion boards at OH and MyFitnessPal, and joined both on June 25. I regret never having joined before. My mistake!
I read about the 5 Day Pouch Test and decided to start it on June 26. Some people describe the FDPT as a crash diet and reject it as useless. I consider it a "5 day Restarter Plan". It helped me to overcome the carb cravings, to feel the tightness of my pouch, and to get motivated again. I followed the plan for the full 5 days (last 5 days of June), and since July 1 I’ve been strictly back to basics, and so far it’s working for me. I’m down 6 pounds since June 26; I’m keeping track of my diet and exercise on MFP; I’m reading and beginning to contribute to the discussion forums at OH and MFP; and I’m feeling remotivated and energetic again.
I know it’s early, but I’m confident that with continued effort and communication I will be able to get Back on Track Together and stay on track. We can do it!
You going it !!! Glad you joining!!!

You and I had our surgery about the same time....mine was in Nov. of 2010. I never reached my goal of 180.....got to 200 and then gained 30 pounds and here I am.....been at this weight for a year. I really want to reach my personal goal. I know what to do, but doing it is a different story. You are doing great ! Keep that motivation going.....come back here often.....we are encouraging and don't belittle when we have a bad day.
WAysta, Yes, our surgeries were less than 2 weeks apart. Coincidence -- but also very Similar patterns? In my case, lost 98 lbs. total in first year, 78 post surgery, maintained for the second year, until Nov. 2012, then over 18 months I regained 38. I knew I was gaining, got weighed at dr. Visit at 212; still didn't acknowledge how serious it was till I hit 220. Let's both be grateful we woke up. Time for us both to get back on track and go for our goal wt. I hope you'll feel free to message or friend me. ![]()
