They really ate 130 gms of carbs
I just found this on Medline.
"People in both groups had counseling sessions with a dietitian: The low-fat group was told to get no more than 30 percent of their daily calories from fat, while the low-carbohydrate group was given a limit of 40 grams of carbohydrates per day. At the end of one year, the low-fat group averaged nearly 200 grams of carbohydrate daily compared to about 130 for the low-carb group, according to the study."
If the people didn't follow the diet, how can they publish a study? I would have thought that they would have delivered meals to the participants. I guess I will aim for 130 gms of carbs. I think that is reasonable. I will make my egg sandwich with a real egg (good bye egg beaters) and continue to use rf cheese.

flawed study.. but still..
I rarely count and monitor my numbers for the whole day...but I avoid grains...(all of them), starchy veggies and most fruits. The only fruit I really eat (and not every day) are berries.. Berries are my to go carbs for recarbing. I may eat some veggies chips (Terra, or Peacrisp - they are the only 2 that do not affect my BS)
Beside that I get my carbs from veggies (cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, greens, some tomatoes, green beans, broccoli, etc), nuts, and seeds. My typical to go ratio for any food (when I am following my plan) is for every meal - every 10gr proteins should have at least 5 gr of fat..and no more than 5 gr of carbs...with some fiber. at the end of the day - as long as I follow my meal rules and have 100 gr of proteins - I know i had less than 50gr of carbs, (and some of those carbs are fiber)
MY LNS: nuts - have more fat than proteins - but it is working great for me so far...
