I'm a teacher, so I know about not getting to run to bathroom when you need to. Is it a safety hazard to have a bottle of water on the floor or against your work's policies? Could you have a Camelbak (a backpack filled with water) or would that be unprofessional in your situation? It is a tough one when you probably only have 4-5 hours to do your life outside your work and sleep hours.
One thing I do to help with getting my water in is to fill up a reuseable plastic bottle right before I go to bed and leave it on the nightstand. I manage to get a few sips in while I'm winding down and then it is right there for me to have when I smack the alarm off in the morning and schlep it with me from bed to bathroom to the rest of my morning routine. (Just be sure that you have a good tight lid on it, I tend to smack the snooze button pretty hard and have been grateful that my bottle is sealed when I knock it over.) In that first hour I can usually get about 10 oz down by sipping every 5 minutes or so and I bring it with me to work. My commute is about an hour so I can get another 10 or so oz down. Of course, I have to run to the bathroom first thing at work, but I'm already a 1/3 of my water intake done for the day and I haven't really done anything but sip on water all morning.
I also refill it at work for the commute home for another 10 oz. There is no way I could get all my water in during the day without doing this. My refillable bottles are 20-24 oz, so I know if I get 3 bottles in a day, I've done pretty good. Hope that might work for you too.

I was just getting back to OH after being away for a while looking for some help. And I found this group. I have gained back 5 lbs and so anxious that I will gain my 75 back.  I am a physical rehabilitation nurse so have a stressful job. I work 12 hour shifts so don,t have time to pee much less drink water. I really think that is my major downfall. I don't have time to stop into the lounge every few minutes for a drink. Got any suggestions since I am unable to down 8 oz at a time?

When I weighed myself this am, I have regained 8 pounds. It took me almost 2 months to loose that. ARGH! i'm so upset with myself I could just spit. (pardon the expression). I had big plans to do well today and reward myself with a pedi, but was so busy with closing up school that I just  grabbed whatever was around for lunch...which was loads of junk.

I got an email from my local support group leader and thought we might all benefit from this one, so I posted it as an event. I plan to be online to check it out. Maybe it will be helpful for you too.

I really like Fatmamma's post about Step 1 water. I'm struggling too. It's not like you can "cold turkey" eatting like some do with smoking, etc. But maybe look at one do-able step that you can take for a week or two. Master that, then add something else that is do-able. It might be a matter of taking many small steps to make the big journey.
I too struggle with exercising...not due to injury, just don't like to. If the yard needs weeding, I weed. If the house needs cleaning, I'll build up a sweat to make the bathroom shine. But hitting the weights or treadmill, makes me feel like I am not accomplishing anything. I've never gotten the 'endorphines' people talk about from it. I am really struggling with changing that mind set.

That is an excellent place to start. My surgeon recommends at least 64 oz per day, but I have read to divide your weight (in pounds) by 2 and drink that many ounces. Feels like I am sipping water all day and running to the bathroom too.

I have to tell u I totally understand where u r coming from. I hear people say get on track and I see no track in sight. Also people tell me to just get back on the wagon. My wagon has no wheels. So here I come back to the place it all began in 2003. I had gone from 282 to 175 and now back to 220. My mind wants to but it never does. Think itts time for pro help
