116.4 - 118.6 (somewhere in there)

We didn't go to the resort next door for Happy Hour after all. We went to our own resort because they had a woman singing and it wasn't busy. Dinner at a New Mexican restaurant across the street. Really fresh and tasty and fairly healthy (not a lot of added goop). The reviews were mostly good but some people complained about small portions, which of course was actually a plus for me. Not too expensive either.

The rental car never moved yesterday but it will today. Boredom has set in. We will do our morning walk and then I will do water aerobics while DH goes to the gym. We plan to actually go to the Butterfly Farm today, out to lunch, then pick our friends up at the airport just after 2. Tonight we have dinner at a restaurant on the highest point of the island near the lighthouse. Hopefully there will finally be a sunset as we haven't seen one yet. It looks like there will be more sun today, so maybe?

Water aerobics is much more challenging here than I expected. He works the arms and shoulders a lot for strength in ways that are tougher than my Florida class, but good for me.

Time to get walking. Have a thirsty Thursday!

Since the butterfly farm is a must do for many people, I'm hoping you really enjoy it. I always really enjoy bird aviaries. I find you need to sit quietly for a bit, and then you start noticing the birds.

I am watching the local news while doing my last ever quarterly progress reports. I despise them so much, but here I am, drinking tea, wearing jammies, windows open and listening to bird song. Could be (and had been), much worse.

DD is internet dating. She shared about a terrible encounter, the guy began making racist comments, and disparaging homeless people. So lots of toads to deal with. Meanwhile, I guy who works in IT at the VA asked her out. He had helped her with tech a few times, and she thought he was cute and nice, and he must have thought the same. They went on a second date yesterday. Although DH and I are dying to ask how it went, we decided we that in these matters, we receive information as it is offered, and do not pursue it. She did call us after the first date, and she sounded animated, and they planned a second, so we're happy she had a nice time. Unlike the racist guy. DD did say there was nothing to clue her in on his profile, so she is going to require more emailing/messaging before she agrees to a meet up. One of her friends pointed out a good guy wouldn't find it problematic and if someone did, it's probably not someone for her.

Well, back to work...

Your daughter has a good head on her shoulders - she will find some compatible. These days that means not only sharing similar views but politics (didn't used to be so divisive).

You are such a good Mom, I tend to want to pry but give up easily if there is resistance!

Sore today from my fall and a bit of an uncomfortable night's sleep with my banged up knee, but I will live to be knocked down another day!

I'm showered and ready for my dentist appointment later this morning. The landscape guy came by and they fixed the lights in one of the fountains and tried to find the short in the driveway lights to no avail. Their main light guy is out of town, so they'll bring him back later to try to find the problem.

It's a beautiful day here and the forest is happy for having had a much needed drink.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Glad you are making your way around even though a little sore. I have never had a large dog, but when I was dog walking at the shelter I worried about some of the big ones pulling me over. I never thought about being literally knocked over.

I did it!!!! I finished the loathsome reports for the last time. And I took a break and went to the nursery around lunch time and bought some more plants. I think I have enough to fill in the spots that are left, but then again, who knows?

I am starving today, and I realized I didn't take my shot on Tuesday, so its been like 14 days. And being home, I'm drinking lots of tea, and going to the bathroom every hour it seems. So I thought I'd weigh myself, despite being dressed etc. Because I must be letting go of some fluids. Umm, no. I did not like the number, I am out of my happy range. Shot on board.

On the positive, I will definitely meet my protein and calcium goals today. I'm hoping eating more at home will lead to more days of meeting nutritional goals, and a down tick on the weight again.

I have 4 more classroom days, and then one grading day ahead of me. I think it's starting to sink in at last. I savored being home today, even if I was working. The birds are singing their hearts out. So lovely. Tomorrow we go to my parents house.

Yay for done reports and days you can work from home! Not too many more days at all!

I hope you find meeting your nutrition goals easier at home, no break room treats to contend with at least!

Time to do duty at your parents but at least that will be behind you. Just one more week of teaching??? It is easier to maintain weight at home because you can control the temptations. I don't have much junky stuff in the house and I tend to eat a lot of the same stuff focusing on healthy and protein forward. The only snack foods are planned snacks, like hummus and nut thins and on a super hungry day 1/2 English muffin with peanut butter (I try to keep those to only once or twice a week).

I was thinking about the question of prying into our children's social lives. I have always asked questions but I don't think I pushed hard if they seemed reluctant to talk about it. Usually they told me on their own how they felt if it was an important relationship fairly early on. DH never asks ANY questions and his children don't tell him much perhaps because they think he isn't interested? His eldest DD has been divorced 12-13 years and he has no idea if she has ever been on a date because he never asked her.
