I am easing into my day reading and typing on my iPad. Soon I have to get my act together to shower and pack up. We leave for the wedding venue area at 11 am.
Yesterday afternoon the six of us had a private tour at the Royal Palace and dinner out at a nice restaurant at 8. The tour took 2 hours and most of us were pretty tuckered out after walking around the 22 rooms we viewed. Pretty impressive place which is kept in perfect condition: the textiles are replaced when needed whi*****ludes the wall coverings as most rooms have matching fabric used for the curtains, walls and upholstery - a different color in each room. Interesting comments about their monarchy. It sounds like the Spanish people are quite fond of them. At dinner last night I got brave and had Bulls Tail. It was like a very rich short rib. Quite tasty, but I couldn't eat much.
I actually doubt that I have gained any weight so far as I have pretty much eaten as usual during the day and haven't gone crazy at dinner.
We should arrive at our next hotel by around noon. DH will arrive about an hour later as his flight is coming in at 12 in Madrid. He will take a taxi directly to the hotel in Torrelodones. If we can't check in right away we will go to a restaurant nearby. Tonight we are going to another restaurant in the area with other family members including the mother and father of the groom. The rehearsal dinner was last night so they are free tonight.
That's it for the morning update. Have a winsome Wednesday!

202.6 - easing on back down. Food has been generally on point since our return last week. I'm pleased with my swift progress back to my departure weight.
Back at the gym in full force, too. I feel good about that. Will do legs and then some sculpting today. I tend to stay away from focusing on specifics, but go more for overall functionality. Sculpting focus is a bit of a treat since it's easier to do - lighter weights and fewer muscles involved.
So, I know we tend to steer away from politics here, but I need somewhere to vent... I am thoroughly disgusted that that Big Beautiful Bill passed the Senate. I don't care what amendments were made. The bill is simply bad on so many levels. I feel for the people who voted for this current legislative climate believing they would be better off and are learning they got f*cked instead. I have yet met anyone who can spin doctor this legislation into a national benefit.
So that's it for me... Aye yi yi....
My nephew, a supporter of the current administration, is on permanent disability for a TBI from 12 years ago. His short term memory is pretty shot, and he gets terrible headaches still. I worry he is going to lose all the protections and insurance coverage he currently qualifies for.
I worry about everything. I tell myself that's part of the plan: make everyone feel afraid. So, I cling to something I heard at DD's graduation: Joy is an act of resistance.
You are doing a great job at getting back into the groove. It will serve you well in retirement.
Im with you on that bill - I am nervous about so many things in our country right now. That's as political as I usually get online.

Resting briefly on the porch before I get ready to go out for an early dinner with DH and some friends. We are planning a short trip to the Finger Lakes region in upstate New York in September, so we'll discuss plans over a nice meal today, on a beautiful patio in Minneapolis. Traveling in September! I'm so excited. So my first BIG retirement trip is August 28 -September 10 with my DD to Scotland. When we come back, DH will meet me in Boston and we'll go to Rockport MA for 5 days, and celebrate our 38th anniversary. Then we'll drive to Ithaca NY and meet our friends. After 5 days in the area, we will return to Massachusetts, stopping to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Amherst. We'll also spend a night or two with DD, then back to Minnesota on September 20.
Yesterday was such a fine day. Gorgeous weather! Read the paper, worked out, went on a coffee date, shopped Costco, did some gardening, and finished the evening with some old fashioneds in the Adirondack chairs while the sun set.
Today I got a little bit late start, but did my workout, read the paper and tidied the kitchen. Time to go get ready for patio drinking on another stellar Minnesota summer day!
