Those darn cognitive tests. I remember my SIL telling me that there was no way at any age that she could count backwards by 7 from 100 and the doctor laughed and asked if she could do it by 5 (she could).

It is quite weird what the clock does look like with dementia though- I remember seeing it the first time with DH. I don't think they were doing those tests until you turned 65 back then unless there was a problem.

Hehehe.... Being a teacher of third grade (multiplication table year) counting back by 7's (or whatever number) you learn follows a pattern. Once you hit the pattern it's not so hard.... 100, 93, 86, 79, 72, 65, 58, 51, 44, 37, 30, 23, 16, 9, 2.... see? Some patterns repeat much sooner than others - like 5s, but they all repeat....

Chilly Willy and blustery here today! Feels like fall for sure.

I would love to host a get together at my house! November or April are both good for me. I wish I had enough bedrooms/beds to accommodate everyone. I've got 2 spare bedrooms - one with a king and one with a queen plus my room with a king (and Kirby) and no extraneous rooms that would make good makeshift bedrooms. While a ton of people would fit in the cavernous hallways, I don't think that would be very comfortable for anyone . We could go full sleepover mode if everyone was feeling brave and put inflatable mattresses in my room and the large king bedroom, but maybe if it was just us and not spouses? If that doesn't appeal (and I understand if it doesn't), there are lots of airbnbs and hotels in Sedona.

Things running through my mind:

What would the logistics look like?

Do we draw straws for the two bedrooms or decide some other way?

Air mattresses and sharing or do people want their own private spaces?

Spouses or no spouses?

Would people who stayed elsewhere feel left out? Or vice versa would those who stayed at my house feel left out of airbnb/hotel fun?

Do we all chip in for an airbnb/hotels regardless so it's not more onerous for any one person?

How long should it be?

What other questions/thoughts/ideas do you have about how this would work?

I'm off to muse about this and buy sweetcorn for dinner. Making this (I add white wine vinegar to the dressing. Makes it so much better): https://www.sumptuousspoonfuls.com/basil-chive-cucumber-corn -salad/

Take care! Ps - loved the pics of Diane and Peps!

Whatever you decide CC would be fine with me! You are very gracious to open up your house and even more gracious to consider having people stay overnight!

I would vote for a Spring date. Would prefer spouses (would probably stay longer - in an hotel or Air Bnb -and make a little vacay out of it) but I know DH would be fine with me going solo and staying home and watching the dogs. Oh yeah, we won?t have a kid around to watch the dogs! Maybe DH should stay home! Lol!

Fall comes fast doesn't it?

My DH would probably prefer not to come, but either way I would be fine at a B&B or wherever. We are staying at the same one we have been to twice before when we come up after the wedding this October (Sunset Chalet).

Lol, as I was talking to my DH, he said he would rather stay home too! I've already subjected him to a few class reunions where he didn't know anyone!

I agree about the weight numbers. I hate seeing a gain even when I know a gain is what is needed. Too many years of having my worth correspond to those damn numbers!
