Love the friend's little grandsons proclamation about loving Aruba. Kids endorsements come from such a true place. If only we could always connect with these moments of joy with such spontaneity. I remember popping a Rolling Stones CD into the player and 3 year old son chimed in from the backseat, I like this bouncy music! Welcome to the joy of rhythm and blues little one :)

Peps is on his way to a deferred dream trip!!! So happy it's on at last.

Diane, at the rate you are selling your art, you may no longer be retired. Maybe from practicing law but not from art creation.

Yes, still practicing boundaries with my parents so as not to self emulate. There were several conversations started where I had to say, You can not talk to me about this (each one trying to tell me how the other ruined their dreams) or you can't talk to about this with me anymore, it's done. (Sale of the Florida house, with the new twist, we didn't think you wanted it. ). And you're right Diane, my brother pointed out that plans can be made, but it doesn't mean it will happen. The plan in motion is to turn the living room/dining room area into a 1st floor bedroom and sitting area. The kitchen and family room stay the same. My Dad is desperate to be done with the full flight of stairs, and rightly so. My Mom has a stairlift, but it's looking real scary when she goes to sit down in the seat while at the top of the stairs. The only way for this to happen is to throw out the hoarded stuff, and get rid of some furniture. I think they want this first floor sleeping area enough to let it go forward, but I'm sure not smoothly. Here's hoping ...

Talk about smooth though, we got the power washer going today. The deck furniture looks amazing! I can't believe how clean the fabric seats and backs look. It's chilly and windy, so we only did a few chairs, but hopefully it will be warmer at the end of the week. I can see how addicting this can be. Have to keep reminding myself, don't let perfection be the enemy of good.

64 degrees tomorrow, boo! The end of May and June used to be so warm. Now the fall is warmer and longer than it used to be. Lucky me, I will be able to take advantage of the autumn season more fully.

I'm enjoying the orange chicken from Costco. There are less caloric ways to get some protein, but I'm okay with it, because this I can eat, and I need avenues to get more protein in.

The last week begins tomorrow. And it turns out my very first day of retirement will be attending a No Kings rally on Saturday. My new career as an activist? It's not such a flex to peacefully protest in Minnesota. Our State Troopers are on scene and I trust them to protect all, both protesters and counter protesters. I hope it is the same around the country on Saturday. Peaceful protest is the right of all.

Disassociation may not seem functional, but I think at times it is the most functional way of dealing with tumultuous situations. It is a go to response for me, too. It has served me well throughout my life, offering protection when most needed. Disassociation is an old friend from my childhood. As an aware adult, when it visits I can identify it, just like you did, evaluate it, and deal with it.

Even with the compulsive talker I am sure your open studio tour will be enjoyable.

BTW, I believe Father's Day is next week (which is why we did breakfast this Sunday but won't next Sunday).

Greetings all

Oops, missed yesterday. I had gallery duty in the afternoon and it was quite busy. Open studios and artists doing demonstrations plus some kind of giant yard sale in town. I also had big boxes of stuff to deliver but another member helped me get them inside. Shopping bags. Lots of customers all afternoon and I sold a lot of items. Gotta make more. A good day but lots for me to do. Plus our power and internet went out at about 11 pm. Power came back in a couple of hours but internet is just now back. No clue what caused that as there is o wind or storm. Just junky infrastructure I guess.

So today's mission is to go to a few open studios. Studio buddy will be over in a couple of hours. We will go riding around in the newish car. A third person is not coming which is just as well due to the chaos factor provided by two people who talk non stop.

DD sorry to hear of your day of high drama. Definitely a two martini event. Glad to hear that a bit of a plan has formed even though I know from personal experience that agreeing to a plan is just the first battle of the ongoing conflict. We are thinking of you and remind you that you are not kindling for this bonfire. Wishing you peace at what should be a fun time.

Liz thanks for the sand sculpture. Very fun. Enjoy the various outings. A toddler at the beach is very fun.

Bon voyage Peps. Hopefully it is an uncomplicated flight and all is smooth. I predict you will be leaving a pound or two on the continent, French pastries notwithstanding.

Time for me to get this old bus in gear and make some eggs so I can face the compulsive talker. I seem to attract such people because I am a listener.

Happy Fathers day to all.

200.8 ... So goal was not reached, but damn close enough. 80 pounds down and feeling quite good about it.

The bus leaves for the airport in just over an hour and a half. I will check in as I am able. I have international data along with wifi on the boat, so I should be checking in regularly.

See y'all on the other side.

119.6 - new week of people so the gym was relatively full compared to the usual one person on a treadmill last week. The crowd will die out over the week LOL.

Our friend's family arrived and their adorable almost 3 year old grandson had us quite amused in the late afternoon. He announced to his grandmother that he really liked Aruba last night.

Dinner out was really nice last night. Good meal and beautiful ambiance. I'm all about the atmosphere. No cafeteria style restaurants for me when we go out. Before we went there we had a Happy Hour drink at the resort up a few again. Much nicer bar and service there than ours which is particularly noisy and crowded on Saturdays after everyone arrives in the afternoon.

It is Sunday, so it is out for breakfast day but the bus isn't leaving until 8 am. We are going to our resort's restaurant. They do a good breakfast except on Father's Day when they have a terrible buffet (as we learned last year). Father's Day is a big deal in Aruba so we will probably skip breakfast that morning (too crowded) and do it another morning instead.

Today we may or may not go snorkeling if the wind is a little less than it has been. No specific plans for dinner though we might go to a little place on a pier in the high rise area where they have a live band playing on Wednesday and Sunday nights.

Have a superlative Sunday!
