117.4 - I can't figure out why I am this low. I was so hungry yesterday and had some extra snacks. My meals were the usual.

Yesterday DH worked like crazy weed whacking, mowing, and raking the lawn. It looks great but that's a lot for someone 70 years old and a pacemaker. He doesn't want to hire someone because he likes doing the normal maintenance when he is here but I don't see his kids stepping up. He sent a picture of the knee-high grass to his daughters and told them it was so high he had to weed whack it first. The married daughter replied that she had to do the same in her own yard. What? She is the one with the unemployed husband. Who BTW loves to tell people that he can't sit still for long - and always has to keep moving. Doing what I wonder? Tomorrow DH plans to weed the gardens and spread the mulch which was delivered in April and not spread yet.

While he was working his butt off I unpacked, shopped, and cooked dinner. Dinner was tasty - one of those old WW recipes.

Today is a break day at least. A Justice walk on the beach, then DH is golfing and I am going to my old town to meet SIL for lunch.

When we walked on the beach yesterday we saw the carcass of a huge shark which washed up last week. Thankfully Justice wasn't too interested as it was covered with bugs. I wondered what would happen to it (it is on a public beach), so posed a question on the local FB group asking if anyone knew whether the town is going to remove it. Lots of responses and I learned a lot about what the recommended treatment was (after googling for more info). The bottom line is that it will be left there to serve as food for scavengers and possibly eventually being picked up by the tide. In the midst of the helpful responses were jerks making snide and snarky remarks as if I was supposed to know the answer so I must be an idiot. No wonder kids feel bullied by social media!!! These are supposed adults. Didn't they ever hear that no question is dumb or if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything? So much for me participating in those forums.

It may reach the low 70's today. I hope so! The sun is quite bright out there. Have a thoughtful Tuesday!

DH lived in Japan for a few years while his Dad was in the Air Force. My FIL flew a lot of flights over Korea from the Japanese airbase. I'm not sure if the conflict was still official in 1962, but Korea is what's on his tombstone. DH said when Kennedy was shot, his Dad spent the night in his jet, on the runway, at full alert because they didn't know what was going down for sure at that moment.

In this case it is the association's insurance that is no longer allowing gas grills on the deck. Our friend had his connected to a gas line when he moved in, so now he will have to get it disconnected and move it to his driveway probably. An Argentinean without a grill, it's just not right.

One of my great uncles was killed in Italy also, and is buried overseas. He is the one who left the young bride. So many sad stories, like your uncle. Tragic.

Greetings all

Quick check in before I go out and about. Kiln opening. Have a great memorial day all. We won't do much except remember our service men and women. My dad was a Navy Sea Bee in WWII stationed in Atu and also on a ship. He was also a ship fitter. My mother's brother was killed in Italy. He had a daughter born two or three days before he was killed. The telegram announcing her birth was returned undelivered. The impact that WWII had on our parent's generation is beyond measure. WE all need to think about this service and sacrifice - especially when our democracy appears to be in peril.

Well off to do something fun and maybe even useful. More later if anything happens.

How cool that Bug and Grizz have become fast friends! Our dogs played a little more together when they were pups, now they just usually hang out with each other. Emma doesn't like to share her humans though and will hop down if Bella tries to intrude on pet/snuggle time.

I think you will be amazed at how quickly not working becomes the norm!

They just stopped the semaglutide a week ago. The FDA took it off the shortage list on 2/21/25 and the compounders had to stop in either 60 or 90 days depending on the type of pharmacy. So they stopped on 5/21/25.

I'm surprised the Henry Meds isn't doing the generic Ozempic. That is "legal". It's still on the shortage list and from my understanding generic versions of Ozempic are now allowed in the US.

Isn't it weird how weather occurrences which have always been around now have these new names which make them sound more significant than we ever thought previously?

The only time I have ever seen Justice pal around with another dog was one week when he stayed with our sitter here on the Cape. For some reason this other dog and Justice bonded - usually he just sniffs around other dogs, then ignores them mostly.

So Orderly is still providing tirzepatide? Must be relying on custom dosages, etc? HenryMeds stopped both tirzepatide and semaglutide once Lilly brought suit against them. I have enough purchased through bulk order to last me through most of the year though and will probably get it from Lilly after that.
