Glad you are back safely to Massachusetts Liz. I wish there was an easy solution to get family to help consistently with the house upkeep, especially when they benefit from it so directly. Surely they want things like the AC when they're staying. I know its the principle of the thing, but if its not an economic hardship, maybe DH should pay to get things done. Or sit down with family AGAIN and say here are the jobs, Dad can no longer do all of them, which ones do you want to do, or pay for and divide them up? Maybe the "kids" might prefer to pay for their share of the work?
Another pleasant, sunny day. I'm hoping to finish planting the current batch of bedding plants I have. It takes longer because I'm prepping each flower bed as I go, (mostly raking leaves out) rather than getting all the beds ready, then planting. I like this method, because as I start a new bed, I can look at the completed one with satisfaction. Gives me motivation to keep going.
We had a nice fire in our backyard fire pit last night. It is nice that we can still do that in our city. I know in parts of Minneapolis the density of homes, people make it prohibited. We have friends who live in a nice town home that can no longer grill on their deck. I guess I'm living in the wild, wild west.
Thinking about Memorial Day. At one time, my Great Grandma had 5 sons overseas during WW2 at one time. 2 died, one had permanent injuries.
My Uncle was shopping at Target about 20 years ago, and when he handed his check to the cashier, she looked at his name and said, did you know Rudy Hillstrom? My uncle answered I knew of him, he was my uncle who died in WW2. She quietly said, He was my first husband. They must have been teenagers. Heartbreaking. So many lose so much during wartime.
As am I (grateful) - it takes a lot of courage to defend our country!

We are on Cape Cod - arrived just after midnight which wasn't bad but then I couldn't get to sleep until after 3. Yuck.
I was feeling so sad about leaving Florida yesterday that I booked our summer trip. I was already going there from 8/14-8/17 for my DD's anniversary bachelorette trip. I moved my flight up to 8/7 and added DH and Justice to stay from 8/7-8/14. I will fly home with the girls on 8/17.
It was smooth travels all around yesterday and we had lots of time to get the house clean and in good shape (as well as preparing the bathrooms for their work). I just got my butt in gear and unpacked the suit. It has some vague lines where it was folded but I would guess that hanging it in the bathroom during a shower will make them fall out. Hopefully it travels as well to Spain. Today we need to food shop and unpack. I already have my shopping list going.
DH has to mow the knee-high grass, similar to the first time we came to this house last year. He is really peeved with his DD and SIL who live 2 hours from here who couldn't make a trip to do the lawn even once, especially given that SIL doesn't work and they pay no expenses here. I paid someone to mow my lawn so I never had to deal with this but DH actually likes to do it when we are around. He says he may pay someone next year but send the bill to the kids. Which is a good idea but I doubt he would do that (send the bill) and they would know that too. But maybe if he threatened it they would step up? He has all kinds of tasks he has listed for this week which his kids should be doing. Putting 5 heavy AC units in the windows should be their job, not his IMHO. But if we leave it for them it won't get done and my DS is coming here to stay with the dog for part of the time while we are in Aruba. Sigh.
But the sun is out and we can walk with Justice on the beach if it isn't too windy! Have a marvelous Memorial Monday!

No weight but I?m guessing it will be back up a bit tomorrow with restaurant eating and drinks over the weekend.
Home from the Art Fair but all my crap still needs to be unloaded from the cars. That will be a job for tomorrow!
The art fair went quite well. I sold a big metal print each day and lots of cards and some smaller matted prints. I also saw quite an increase in traffic to my Etsy site which is another goal of Art Fairs! Hopefully that will translate to some sales!
Liz, safe travels. Glad you were able to get all the clothes in your suitcase. Congrats to DH on surpassing his weight goal.
DD, love your retirement musings! You are going to love it!
Peps, how does it feel to be all done teaching? When is your final, final day?
Ann, so glad you stayed safe on the roof. If you were my Mom, you would have gotten a scolding. Kudos to the you two for physically being able to do such things!
CC, glad Kirby is doing better after the big snip. Our little ones had to wear the cone of shame for just a little bit and did rather well with a baby onesie covering the incision.
Diane, a slug wine stopper sounds fabulous. Do you ship/have a website?
Hope I didn?t forget anyone! If so, it wasn?t intentional.
