LOL that you counted the stairs. I always count them for some weird reason. We have 32 up to our condo.

121.7.

Just a quick check in for me today. Meeting with realtor went well. Pricing was just a little higher then what we thought it would be but commissions a little higher. We will show the house on Wednesday then see what if anything is to happen!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Greetings all

The sun is out and it was actually too warm in my studio! It has some windows that open at the top - those old transom style ones - but they were stuck shut. The outside had been painted awhile back. Staff to the rescue with a box cutter. The studio is very close to the bay here so the breeze was immediate. Yay. Prior to the studio I ran errands for dog food and travel stuff. Then I walked at the gym and used the stairs. And DH, the electronics wizard, got the fitbit to work. He paired it with his own iPhone instead of mine. No clue why that worked.

So DH had lunch at the Marina cafe and brought home fish and chips. Dinner solved.

Liz enjoy girls day. But whew you wear me out with all the stuff you do! Kudos.

Ok CC I am in for Sedona. Look out! So Kirby had to go to the lake with kids. What's wrong with that? I guess plenty if he gets muddy. Glad your dad is feeling better as he must be to do a boat overnight. You guys know how to do summer.

As do you DD! Wishing you a little peace and quiet before you head off across the pond. We did a tour of the underground places people used to live in Edinburgh. Cool tour but weird way to live. And isn't it amazing how time slips by when you are not heavily scheduled! And isn't it grand?

Just realized that one of my pre trip chores is to remove more debris for the house sitter. She knows what slobs we are but you still have to pick up for the house cleaner.

An Arizona get together would be awesome. We don't have November travel plans yet. : )

Finally last night I had a good night's sleep and woke up naturally at 7:30am. In the morning I had to do some scheduling phone calls with my Aussie sister, work on some more details for my Scotland trip, create a grocey list, and go buy groceries. Entire morning consumed.

At 1pm, DH and I stopped by nephew's house to drop off a baby present. His wife is due on August 25, so I am hoping the baby will be here before we leave. We chatted with them for awhile and made it home, where I thought I would begin planning for our dinner guests tomorrow, but instead got sucked into more Scotland planning.

There are a number of food prep things I can do this afternoon, so I will start that in a few minutes. Other things I need to do is clean the bathroom upstairs, and turn the bed my nephew was using so my Aussie sister can sleep there Sunday night. I was going to take care of the bed yesterday, but got sidetracked somehow. Before I knew it, 5pm had arrived and it was time to get ready to go out to dinner! Very fun time with my dear high school friend, who was also my debate partner. A special bond.

BFF left this morning to go take care of her grandkids at their new condo. She returns Sunday evening. Aussie sister arrives at 10:45 am. It's been a full house most of the summer.

Today my boy turns 30. He's having a great time right now. It feels so good to see him happy.

You are becoming a busy retired person! I'm glad you like the Hokas - DH loves them though my weird feet don't.

I'm definitely open to hosting a getaway in AZ!

Whew, it's humid right now. Not super hot, but when you have to run across the lawn unexpectedly because the dog chose this moment to be naughty and try to join little kids on their trip to the beach, it's extra humid. Like most puppies, he's good until he's not! 100% my fault for trusting him, but he has a way of lulling me into complacency. The invisible fence is still out of order. I had the guy out to fix it, but it chose the time he was here to work. Apparently with water being a good conductor of electricity, the rain was enough to complete the circuit. So he couldn't tell where the break is.

Paula, did I see you all were in for a lot more rain? Here the forecast is for 1.5", but I saw 7" for areas near you. Ack! Be safe.

My dad and his wife went on an overnight boat trip, but are back this afternoon. Drinks at a friend's tonight followed by pizza on the boat, then dinner at another friend's tomorrow. Lots of food here! My dad is doing well at the moment. His concerning bleeding has stopped (the Mayo doctor said it was probably too many stent changes in a short period of time due to the infections that also seem to be in check now).

I need to get dressed and start the day's chores. Take care all!

PS - so happy for the new retirees! Enjoy your days that are now your own!

121.5, same.

Super busy day including lots of cleaning/tossing. We will be taking 3 huge garbage bags full of clothes to the donation center tomorrow. Feels good to get rid of the crap! If we know we won't be spending another winter here, many winter clothes will go too.

Had our second Hello Fresh dinner for the week. Sweet chili Turkey lettuce wraps. They are quite good. I've been making my own version of them for a bit but didn't have to meal plan or go grocery shopping this time! Always a plus!

Realtor comes tomorrow to discuss pricing. I'm anxious to see what she thinks we can get for the house. Zillow is estimating it pretty high, not sure how accurate that is though!

Beautiful sunrise Liz! Have a fun girls weekend!

DD, lots of fun things on your docket. You are a good friend to give the work advice while retired! Travel time before you know it!

Speaking of travel, Peps your travel schedule is cray cray! Your meet up with DD and her DH will be wonderful!

I know we've talked about it before, but perhaps we can make a whole group meet up happen. I vote Sedona and crashing CC's place. We have to try out her new patio furniture and her new catio screen!

Diane, impressed with you doing the stairs! Way to go girl!

Greetings all

The sun is finally making an appearance. This morning I got out this ancient fitbit i purchased years ago and DH is trying to get it working. No such luck. It is obsolete. Oh well. I like a step counter that is not on my wrist. Hate watch bands. So I had to go to the gym without it. Actually forced myself to walk UP THE STAIRS to the treadmills. Seems like a good idea if my goal is better leg strength. 23 stairs. Maybe some day it will pay off. After that I went to the studio and make some things followed by a quick grocery stop.

So Liz that is a fabulous photo. What a view. I would look at it all day. Enjoy your guests.

Well DD I can tell you are secretly thrilled to not have to put up with the drama that your former co worker is experiencing. Nice to be a mentor but have all that in the rear view. Good to hear that the new shoes are working out. Agreed: not hurting is a sufficient fashion statement. And glad the Aussie sister is engaging in the parent drama and not you. Are you guys going to drive in Scotland or do a tour? It will be fun no matter what.

Yeah Peps you are cray cray for road trips! I think I went to that dog show a million years ago but it was less of a drive for me then. You will have fun. Windshield therapy my friend calls it. Eager to hear about dinner with DD.

We had curried chicken last night from a frozen prepared entree. It was pretty good. Also started the series "Untamed" or something like that. A mystery at Yosemite. Pretty good.

Not much else. Pot pie tonight or other leftovers.

Wow Liz, that lanai photo is to die for. If I'm doing Postings from the Porch, I think you could be Letters from the Lanai. Or Postulating from Paradise. Wishing your DH a safe trip. As your DD and friends arrive, the energy is about to change.

A little finch just landed at the bird bath. I have 3 bird baths in the front of different depths. Oh the pleasure I get seeing them flit back and forth.

I LOVE my Hokas!!! I'm wearing them around the house mostly, to break them in, but today I wore them to the farmers market. The rolling action is forcing my gait to improve. I can tell because my hip and ankle don't hurt, but there is some fatigue in the muscles in my lower ham string. My guess is my wonky gait was putting more stress on my hip flexors and not using my quads and hamstrings enough. Perhaps my only regret is I bought white ones (they had orange and hot pink accents, I couldn't resist the tropical colors). The white will get dirty easily. I'll get some spray tha****erproofs them a bit. Also, DH was teasing me that I looked very senior in my bright white shoes. Add this too the do not care club. I do not care how ugly my walking shoes are if my ankle/hip doesn't hurt. I can wear pretty shoes to restaurants :)

We had a nice time at the food truck festival. The music was better than I anticipated. A good cover band, with brass, not something you always see. A sassy saxophone riff is always nice. When we left, our friends said see you in a month. I was puzzled at first, why would I wait a whole month to see them again? Then DH reminded me I was leaving for Scotland in 2 weeks, and we were meeting them in New York September 13. My brain is not computing that August is flying by.

A friend/co worker stopped by this afternoon. Yesterday she called me about something admin wanted her to do that was absolutely cray cray, IEP stuff, and she wanted some advice how to handle it. She stopped after the meeting to let me know how it went. Workshop week doesn't start until August 24, but admins are always trying to get teachers to donate their time. Per some of my advice, she told them she would need to be reimbursed for her time, and after today, she was leaving on vacation until the end of break. I also told her to really push back on the cray cray ideas and insist she was not qualified to implement them, she was not comfortable doing so, and she could attend the meeting to take notes, but admin would ha e to facilitate and implement. So it all worked out. I guess the gist of this lo g story is, I am the squirrel, so happy to not be on the receiving end of this nonsense.

Tonight we're going to dinner with high school friends. Sunday my Aussie sister is coming for a visit. Shell stay with us a few days and with a friend who lives by my parents. She will visit my parents during the day, and clean the kitchen and help as they will allow, but she said she can't spend the nights there anymore, that she needs a break in the evening. . I completely understand.
