Tis the season for casseroles! Tonight I made tater tot hot dish and tomorrow it will be sloppy Joes!
I'm a little surprised the veggies don't go over well, especially in CA. Seems the broccoli is the first to go here and I always have carrots left!
Must have been the night for ailing dogs! Bella woke up screaming right around the 3:00 mark as well. I bolted upright in bed to find her just as surprised as I was! She must have been dreaming about something horrible! The only other time I heard a dog scream was at the emergency vet and poor dog was in so much pain! Much different sound than a whimper or whine.
Hope lucky is doing better today and hope you got a nap in!
Greetings all
I woke up to pouring rain which made me go back to sleep. The rain has stopped but it is overcast and I think more storms are on the way. No power loss.
Our team played early so we watched it delayed. I was not going to start a football game at 9 am. Fortunately our team won so the State of Nebraska will not have to go into mourning. Studio buddy wanted to come over to watch other football later this afternoon but I told a white lie and said I woke up with a scratchy throat so not today. Just did not feel like having the drama.
We had pizza leftover from DH romeo lunch yesterday and there is more for tonight. It is a plain cheese one which is fine with me. I don't like pepperoni any more and DH seems to hate all other toppings. OH well.
Peps I think I am going to try to make a Runza casserole tomorrow. All the beef, cabbage and onions without the bread casing. Maybe just served on a hamburger bun or baked with frozen bread dough on top. Sounds like a good cold weather treat.
Liz glad the face treatment went ok. My brother has had his face sanded a couple of times but I don't think it did all that much. Filler sounds like a good idea though after all these years hard to imagine wanting any part of myself to be plumper. Over 30 years ago I had my thighs lipo suctioned out and have never regretted it.
Yeah you are right Peps, we can all have a better physical self with effort. I will never be an athlete but can be fitter. And trimmer.
Meanwhile making my shopping list for Halloween. I decided to forgo the veggie tray as it ended up not being eaten. Instead I will get baby carrots and cherry tomatoes. Maybe grapes. No one ate the pile of raw broccoli last year.
We watch a tv show called the Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy. Great show. Last episode he went to Korea to check out the K-pop scene. So much of life there is about cell phones and creating content. One popular thing is that people subscribe to watch another person eat interesting meals. Big meals with all kinds of fancy stuff. Weirdest thing I have ever heard of. Who would want to jus****ch someone else eat? Just one person eating- not a dinner party.

What we do for vanity, indeed!
Why not, though, right? I support self improvement on most fronts! I will be curious to know what you think about the fillers in the mouth area. When I did my lips, the little tiny micro wrinkles vanished! The doc got a big thrill out of that. Cracked me up! I wanted fuller lips. He was so excited that the filler plumped up the surrounding tissue.
Great session with the NUT. Most of it centered around me understanding that my intentions and behaviors don't always align. It was an uplifting session.
I am wiped out today. Lucky had a seizure last night at 2:20 AM. The Grand Mal lasted over 5 minutes, almost 10 minutes. Then he continued having conscious seizures for the next hour while pacing the bedroom. I was grateful when around 3:30 he settled and stopped panting and pacing. He is fine and back to his normal self. I was not thrilled when the alarm went off at 5:45. I think I will take to my bed this afternoon for a well deserved nap!
It is gray, cool and drizzly. Perfect napping weather. So, off to my bed I shall trundle!
A Sleepy Saturday for me!
117.4 - unchanged from yesterday
Yesterday we got fully unpacked, shopped, and did laundry. Afterwards I went to yoga and had my face lasered. We were planning on staying in last night assuming my face would be all red but it wasn't at all. It felt like I had a mild sunburn for a while then normal. The sunspots are a bit darker than usual which is what is supposed to happen at first so I just put makeup on and we went out to happy hour at the clubhouse, then to dinner at a cute little place downtown with live music. The laser treatment was weird. Hot, snappy feeling but no where near as uncomfortable as getting a tattoo. I will have 2 more treatments over the next couple of months - I hope they are not any more uncomfortable than this one. On Monday I am getting filler around my mouth. Very curious to see how that is going to look. What we do for vanity!
Not sure what we will do today other than a Justice walk. Normally we would go to the beach but I am supposed to stay out of the sun. I suppose I could go if I stay under an umbrella and slather on sunscreen. Tonight I am making my light lasagne for dinner.
Have a super Saturday!

Me 3: Brains over beauty, but I'd also like to have both please.
So do you think DH moved the excess Living Room stuff into the garage? Sounds like you don't really want to know as long it isn't in the main part of the house.
Battery backup required for garage doors? Can't they just be disengaged and the doors opened manually?

Must seem strange to have to plan holidays around long distance now. I remember the first year of doing that but am used to it now. DH actually suggested driving this year so we would have more flexibility on travel days, but the 2+ days each way is just too much to stand and actually wouldn't be a lot cheaper with the cost of gas, tolls and staying in a hotel 1-2 nights.
I know what you mean about how onerous filling out things online can be. I love shopping online but for some things it is just a royal pain. When I went to the doctor yesterday they had a self check-in podium but when I looked at what you had to enter and review I realized it would be much more painful than talking to someone (with whom I just had to say my name).

As Paula suggested, some of those areas you are concerned about may have a lot of excess skin, not necessarily body fat.
It does sound like both you and the kids at school might benefit from a visit especially this time of year when they are in a festive mood.

I had a peculiar thought today: I have always thought of myself as fairly smart and always rationalized that fact against the fact that I was a chubby klutzy non athletic and rather homely kid. So consider if you could change brain ability for a fab and super buff body would you do it? Me -yyyyno. So why bemoan the body?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! However, like Paula, I want BOTH. I am a greedy goblin!
But seriously, here's more food for thought: Perhaps the brains with which we were born are part of the reason we have battled the bulge most of our lives. You say that you rationalized that your intelligence countered your lack of physical fitness, coordination, and beauty. But perhaps that was your brain protecting you as a child from further "damage". The brain is a powerful protector of a child's psyche! I have learned that many of the defense strategies I used as a child actually stopped serving me by the time I was in late adolescence and early adulthood. However, because they were so engrained, those strategies were solidly in place and continued. Years of living my disorder, overcoming addictions, WLS, medication and years of therapy have helped me get to where I am today.
I don't think it's an either-or proposition. We can have both. It's just that with our histories, the body part of the equation is really, really hard to accompli**** takes humungous effort, but it can be done. I think our tribe is a good example of that. Look at what we've all been able to accomplish! It's taken time - lots of time - but look at us as a group and how we have changed both inside and out!
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
