Popping in quickly from Ohio. Weather here has fluctuated wildly. Yesterday was well over 90 and HUMID. Today it barely hit 70, was rainy and felt chilly during parts of the day. Dog show is fine. We used walking sticks in grad school. Did studies on them! They really increase your workout! More similar to cross country skiing with the arm movements!

DSD is lucky to have your artistic eye creating a wedding album for her! Back in 1987 when I got married, you had a limited amount of photos to choose from, and hoped for a couple of great ones. Now there are so many images I can imagine it's overwhelming to narrow it down.

Overcast but it is not smoke. Just the usual haze. We do get smoke here in the summer and there is a significant fire northeast of here. Not a danger to us but not good.
So today I have more errands and have made a list that I have already misplaced. Geez if my head was not attached. Once I find or recreate said list I will run these errands and then go to the studio. There is a meeting there at 4;30 that I must attend as a board member. It will be the glass members *****ing because we are going to take away some of their space to use for clay members. There have been quite a few high drama texts and emails going around, some of which are selfish and juvenile so I am not looking forward to this. Wine purchase was one thing on my list...
So Liz that Block Island place looks so great. I love those older wooden buildings. So classy. On to your next trip!
CC sorry your Dad is having issues. Maybe Mayo is what he needs. They are pretty great. Meanwhile enjoy the architect stuff. For your darker room there are these things called solar tubes. Essentially a round skylight but they are unobtrusive and much cheaper to install. My scrabble friend just put two in her house and they are a nice light source but without glare or intensity. A thought.
DD I did not realize you were getting Canada smoke too. Not nice. I hope it is not enough to avoid the outdoors. Yeah walking is problematic. My advice is to walk outdoors as long as you can and not worry about speed or distance. Last I checked it is not a race. Enjoy the music tonight. Anybody use walking sticks? I have considered them though it may be another thing to trip myself on. Treadmill is good for now.
So yesterday I spent about 40 minutes on the phone with tech support for the Cal Tax department for gallery stuff. It was astonishing how much time this person could waste and manage to be no help at all. Problem still only partially solved. I am too old for the digital world.
Maybe steak tonight.

Like CC and DD, the wild fire smoke here is horrendous. We are in the unhealthy for all category so no outside walking today. Hoping it clears up enough to walk outside tomorrow. It seems to bother my eyes and with DH's asthma, being outside it a no go!
Bible study went well this morning. We had a small group but good discussion nonetheless. We are studying the Armor of God in Ephesians.
DSD comes tomorrow for the weekend for her birthday weekend. She turns 26! I think we will go out to eat on Saturday to celebrate. Probably olive Garden as it is one of her favs. That's fine with me, I like to get their minestrone soup and salad.
Safe travels home Liz and then safe travels to FL. Hopefully it won't be too hot for you all!
CC, sorry about your Dad's continuing problems with his stent. Perhaps Mayo can help! Do you guys go to Mayo in Minnesota or elsewhere? How is Kirby enjoying MI?
DD, you always have fun cultural events planned! I love the arts too and don't go to plays, music events, etc. nearly enough!
Off to work on DSD's wedding photo book some more! It is coming along nicely.

Great getaway Liz! And it's so nice to travel midweek and avoid the weekend crush. Especially on the east coast. The density of people sometimes catches me by surprise in that part of the world.
Well I guess if DH doesn't want you to update kitchen items in Cape Cod then you really can't do much cooking.
CC I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's health struggles. It takes a lot of fortitude to grow old. Maybe the Mayo does have something to offer him. It's worth an appointment.
The smoke from Canada is crazy here too. Outdoor games for kids soccer, baseball etc have been cancelled due to outdoor air quality several times.
Cleaning out one drawer and one cabinet yesterday felt good. I thought I would just tear into the house this summer, but it seems like I just do one little space at a time. Still satisfying, and has a bit of impact on quality of living. Over time I suppose it will add up. After teasing DH about pack rat tendencies, I unearthed a Belgium waffle maker he gave me the first Christmas we were dating. As I was holding it, I remembered Saturday mornings in my little single girl apartment making waffles after a "youthful" Friday night. Oh young love. I kept the wafflemaker. :)
This morning it was so breezy and NOT humid (although a haze from Canada smoke), I decided to go for a walk instead of doing weights. My stamina was pretty good, so the increasing strength of muscles showed, but my gait is so off. I walked slower to really concentrate on form, make sure I'm pushing off, especially on the left side. I used to love walking, I could walk a 4 mile an hour pace. Now I'm so slow. The good news is that I walked steadily for about 30 minutes and I don't feel any flair up in my plantar fasciitis or pain in my left hip (flexor muscles getting stronger!)
Tonight we'll go listen to music again at the Lower town Series in St. Paul. One of our chosen family, DHs BFFs daughter is running a booth at an art show this weekend, so we will go to that Saturday or Sunday. She supports herself as an artist. No easy task, but she is very talented. The weather looks good!
So sorry your Dad keeps going through this. Hopefully Mayo can find an alternative that will work better.
And potentially an imaginative Architect could help you figure out a better flow and light for your place. My DH talked to an architect years ago about expanding his Cape house but my DH being who he is probably told the guy what the solution was vs just talking about the issues he would like to solve. So the architect priced out what was asked for and the price was more than DH wanted to spend. I think letting a good expert come up with a solution can work much better.
