Lisa. I too live in Palm Bay and have Health First Insurance. They do not cover the procedure. I opted to pay. Here is some local info. Space Coast Credit Union offers financing for the procedure. Dr. Mark Fusco is the only MD in town to do the LapBand and is down at the Same Day Surgery Center. His information session was great and answered a lot of questions. The cost for self pay is $16,750 and covers 1 year of service. I had my surgery on 1/31/06. 1st weigh in on 1/23 was 294 and currently 266. It hurts more than they told me. Getting up out of a chair is a real pain because of the incisions. I haven't had any nausea or vomiting. Once the incision pain went away, I started to think they didn't do anything beacuse I didn't have any of the "effects" that they tell you about. Don't stop moving forward because of insurance. It's worth it in the long run. You'll be saving money on groceries and eating out.
