Lisa, I agree so wholeheartedly with what you said! I have often wanted to say the same thing myself, but my fear of being beaten up (with words) kept me from saying it. We are all human, and we are all different. I admire those of us who are able to do all the right things, but most of us are just struggling. We are all members of the same family of obese relatives, and whether we've gotten down to a size 2 (congratulations Kary!) or are just happy to be 100 lbs. less than we were and off of our diabetes, arthritis and high blood pressure meds (yeah, me!), we all have this wonderful surgical procedure (in all it's variations)to be grateful for. Since I'm coming out of my fear to congratulate you for what you were not afraid to say, I'll go out on a limb and say one more thing that has bugged me. When I look at the before and after pictures (my favorite spot on this site) I am sometimes shocked and saddened by some of the comments that we make about ourselves in our before pictures (such as: WHAT A COW or HIPPO, or ____fill in the blank.) Do we all forget so soon the pain and humiliation of others thinking of us in this light? We were beautiful, good hearted, OBESE people, and we were and are worthy of respect. We should respect our old selves, and remember that many of us on this site are not at the same point in their journey, and that these comments can make them feel like those of us who have attained the goals we set for ourselves have turned into those people who hurt and humiliated us in the past. Just my two cents, don't beat me up!

I wish you the very best on the surgery, and I will pray for you so it will be free of any complications. I go in tomorrow, and I am a nervous wreck. It seems the closer it gets, the more we have second thoughts. Just hang in there, soon it will be over, and we will regain our health and our lives back. I will keep all of our WLS sisters and brothers in my prayers.
