Laura, Hi! I saw your answer in the Q&A about the DS. I started researching wls about a year ago, and like you, had decided that I wanted to keep my stomach functioning as normally as possible. When I went for my initial consult back in October, I thought it was set. Well, when they called with my surgery date, I was told that I had been scheduled for a RNY! I asked to speak to my surgeon right then and luckily he was available. He told me that I am the ideal candidate for the RNY and that the DS is much riskier. I feel like I've been pressured into making a decision I will later regret and I don't know what to do. I am still scheduled for 03-24. I chose this surgeon because I am self-pay too, and this hospital(the one my doctor practices at) is more affordable. Can you give me any thoughts or advise about this situation? My sister lives in Hildebran--beautiful place! Take care and have a great day, suzi
