Debra, ask the pharmacist at Wal-Mart. They have cheaper ones that they keep behind the counter. They are called Keto Stix or Sticks...I don't know the other answers -- I'm still pre-op! Best of everything to you.

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all. (unknown author)FROM MY HEART TO YOU ~*~Hugs~*~

Hi Deb, Congrats! I'm going for Open RNY at Alexian Bros on 3/14/03. I thought it was cool that we both live in Rolling Meadows!

I'm 1 week post-op. Hunger didn't hit me until day 3 and more so on day 4. I added pureed chicken to my broth and that helped. I previously added 1-3 Ritz crackers with my broth and that also helped. But I never felt like more than 2 meals a day when I did that. I've posted all I've eaten so far and how I hadn't lost much until I did eat more than broth etc they suggested. Not sure whether it's right thing to do but I have lost 12 pounds from pre-op weight. (Nobody tells you until afterwards that you'll gain maybe 10 pounds in hospital post-op) I began losing in hospital day before discharge and was basically 1 pound down from docotr's pre-op weight for me when I left. Stayed about the same or down 2 pounds after 2 days home so began my own thing and now am losing more and have more strength and energy. Ask your doctor about this and don't do what I did unless they approve. I see doctor tomorrow and will tell him what I've done and see if it was okay or has hurt me. Keep on truckin'

Hello! I talked to Deb last night and she is on the other side! I'm so proud of her! She and I have become great friends because of this board and I'm very thankful. She sounded very tired and groggy but she made it through! Great Job!
